Tiberian Sun/Firestorm.

That game has flavour, unlike most games with shitty lame stories "X hates Y, X and Y go to war, Y wins".

This, this all the way. TS is just ownage as a game, and ra2 sucks in this regard, but hey, I still mod yr.

It was a hard decision for me between TS and TD but I voted TS/FS! the TS atmosphere, story and overall looks beat any cnc hands down imo.

I didn't even consider ra2/yr.. I never liked the story and its too cartoony, though for me its funner to mod and thats all it has going for it.

YR.

Because I don't need garbage TS gameplay. I'll take a hit of cartooniness when the gameplay works ages better.

TS for me.

As far as the difference between YR people and TS people it depends are your persona, if you are more serious your likely to choose TS because it is a more serious game (this is in storyline an a little bit in units). RA2 and YR people tend to like comedy, and strange and funny stuff. (YR's storyline and units are some of the strangest out there) While TS' story is wierd, the characters tend to have a serious reaction to it, RA2 and YR tend to have characters while act serious also joke around more that TS characters do.

Either that or it's the other way around like a magnet style. Where funny goes with serious to lighten the dullness. (since everyone acting like you do is very boring)

Off topic: Try introduceing someone to RA2 or TS when they've only played Generals+, then say everyone likes it better and watch what they say. Laughing My friend is like, "How can you play that?" I've never shown him the graphics of Tib Dawn. Wink Laughing

Red Alert, and its expansions. Miles better than TD and TS was just terrible outside of the story.

"The graphics of Tib Dawn". That's a very mainstream approach to gaming. How would you judge graphics quality?

I judge them on the era, but I was talking more in the context of my friend that judges them from Generals since he hasn't really played any other RTS games. Tib Dawns graphics aren't half bad for the era it was made in. The game i've probably played the most, dispite liking TS a bit more, is RA1. Mainly because classics never die no matter the era.

But based on era still isnt a way of judging graphics. I mean, what makes a games graphics high quality?

IMO graphics can only be judged on style. And IMO TD has a very nice style, therefore great graphics. It has great character in its and everythings fit together well (which is the most important thing IMO). It looks better than a lot of modern games that just feel "meh". As classics never die, graphics never die if they are truely great.

High Quality is relative to the era since afaik they didn't have RA3 or TW graphics in the era of TD. However you are semi-correct IMO with the style, that plays a important part since for the graphics to be good they need to fit in.

No, I said high quality is relative to the era but I was thinking and came to this conclusion. It's hard to put a definition of "Good" graphics, you can think of it linear where the more realistic the better or you can think of it symbolicly, graphics stand in for something, the more it makes you think of that, the better it is.

Well then TF2 and all cell shaded games look like crap because theyre not realistic. I don't see how that makes sense because in that way of thinking creativity is punished, which is absolutely not what games are about.

Graphics can only be reviewed on style such as: does the game use too much contrast? Or is there an overwhelming amount of bloom (like in many games)? Does it have character? etc

Personally I think TD has great graphics. As an example it can have large areas of the same tile repeating itself without looking boring, whereas in TS the maps just look bland.
