Helios War: Intervention
Subject description: An expansion? to a mod? oh yeah.
Even though Helios War: Defend the Homeland is still undergoing construction, i think i've gotten far enough on that to officially announce the expansion to the mod, "Intervention". It's been in my sig for a while now, and people are starting to ask questions, so i might as well.
Now I have a little bit of random work for HW:I, however my connection is horrible, so i just don't bother uploading any of it. And probably wont until i get major progress.
Here's the background story on Intervention. It's a bit of a read, sorry.
New Faction: Star Kingdom of Atlantis
The Star Kingdom of Atlantis is the oldest and most highly advanced kingdom in the entirety of the explored universe. They were the origins of both Heliopolis and Earth. Heliopolis broke free nearly 5 millennia ago during a struggle for independence. The Atlantis Star Kingdom eventually began to crumble under its own weight and after a brief war with Heliopolis, the central government collapsed.
A centralized regime took over, and immediately downsized the military. Many colonies were left to fend for themselves, as the downsize continued. Seeing its chance, Heliopolis launched a massive coordinated attack on the Star Kingdom. System after system fell, until only the Atlantian system itself was left. In an act of desperation, the already outnumbered Atlantis ships were recalled to the home system; all of them; from all fronts. The Atlantian ships, although technologically superior, were outnumbered nearly 10 to 1 by the Heliopolis Empire. Nevertheless, they successfully fended off wave after wave of assaults on their home system. After losing nearly 45% of their fleet, Heliopolis gave up on taking the Atlantian home system.
The only planets left under Star Kingdom control were Manticore, White Haven, and Atlantia itself. Almost every ship was damaged, some beyond repair, within Atlantis’ fleet. Head Council recommissioned only 10 capitol ships, outfitted with the most advanced weaponry known to anyone, anywhere. 5 new capitol ships were built, one, the “Solitude” the flagship. A total of 15 capitol class ships were commissioned to defend the Kingdom. The Star Kingdom of Atlantis grew within its boundaries, slowly becoming more and more powerful.
Several thousand years passed. A static-filled and damaged data-burst FTL transmission arrived from a nearby star system, asking desperately for help from anyone. Always the kindred nation, the Star Kingdom of Atlantis dispatched two cruisers to the system. They arrived to find a small colony of their descendants from Earth in complete ruins, a Heliopolis destroyer hovering in orbit. Unable to save the colony, the Atlantian ships jumped back home and reported the incident to the Head Council.
After intense deliberation, they decided to begin a buildup of military forces. Within 6 months, 25 capitol ships were in commission, along with scores of smaller ships. A recon team was sent to the ruined colony after Heliopolis ransacked and left. The team found two hidden drives in the colony’s systems. One drive had all the gate coordinates and EAP (Entry Allowance Procedure) codes for each, and the other drive contained a detailed star-map, indicating Earth colony locations. Dozens of logs were found as well, and after reporting what was found, Head Council initiated “Project Witchdoctor”.
Project Witchdoctor was an infiltration operation. Twenty six of the Star Kingdom’s most elite spies were killed or went missing, but their efforts not in vain. One of the spies broke into Heliopolis’ defense system. She attained and transmitted detailed assault schedules, as well as force size and firepower to be used in each. With this information, Head Council dispatched ships to defend the colonies. An assault on Earth was not listed, but data on its physical location had been transmitted the same day that the spies broke in, so it was likely that Earth would become a prime target for Heliopolis.
The Star Kingdom of Atlantis knew that it would once again be soon at war with the Heliopolis Empire. This time, however, they would have an ally. Fearing the loss of that ally, Head Council dispatched 9 Capitol ships, including the “Imperator”, to Earth to defend it. They arrived in the aftermath of a Heliopolis invasion. This is where "Defend the Homeland" and "Intervention" meet.
I'm still working on architecture and design schemes for the Star Kingdom, so any major work on them is purely preliminary.
I'm also looking for people to help on both Defend the Homeland and Intervention.
I need:
-Animators with 3ds Max 2010 (I can assist you in getting the upgrade if you have a prior version)
-Conversion experts for RA2
-RA2/YR coding experts.
-In-game testers (Note: NOT beta testers. I'm looking for someone who will test everything, no matter how small, in RA2/YR, seeing as YR does not work on my 64 bit computer)
I do NOT need mappers or terrain experts, so don't ask. I already have one of the best, my lovely Aro. (yes, I'm just praising Aro. ) _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT
As long as you're looking for an ini coder and not a "hacker", I'd be willing to. Just make sure to throw in some complicated system or gamemode thats never been done. I haven't coded anything worth my while in years.
And have you tried getting Sun Virtualbox and a 32-bit OS? I'd think that would work for YR.
Also, are you sure you want to work on 2 projects at once? _________________ "Don't beg for things; Do it yourself or you'll never get anything." QUICK_EDIT
Can't help you, but I support you! At least that counts for something. Also, if you want, you can swap your 64 bit system with my 32 bit system... QUICK_EDIT

Star Kingdom architecture. Stasis Chambers are needed to produce infantry, however they are not the structure that actually spawns them. That would be the armory.

not concrete. advanced carbon-based materials. Concrete is overrated. _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT
