Install problems on new pc

I installed bot games, did all the modding stuff like usuall when i have to unisntall the game or install it, had the patch and the npatch, xcc tools all taken care of, but when i tried to play it i keep getting this error "--FATAL ERROR---" and something about the string table, but i didnt even touch the strings yet.

Try running it in Compatability mode with Win98 or 2000.

But if that is the error it normally is a Windows Error Reporting thing showing up and telling you to report the error.

the new pc has windos vista, is ra2 even runnable on vista?

Yes I am running Windows 7 as we speak and I play it everyday.

I run every CnC fine on Vista. I don't know what all this Vista-hate is about. I installed it both with the CDs and the DVD, and it worked fine. While I didn't set compatibilty, I did set the windows visual options to revert, and I did disable UAC completely.

right click and run as admin. RA2/Yuri run fine on vista and windows 7, i have both and game play is fine. I found no need to run as compatible
