This might be very obvious, but I couldn't find topic about it so decided to post this. Look for the tag:

FogRate=.5

Then change .5 to 0.01. Now the fog of war will come back as soon as units leave leave the area. It's a good idea to make the Sight values higher for alot of units and buildings. Especially base structures work alot better if they have much higher sight. Also infantry probably need to have higher sight, as they can barely see forward with the default ones.

Enabling the fog of war makes scout units very useful, and stealth tanks as scouts become invaluable. The radar is bit flawed though in my opinion. It does not show targets on the radar screen that are under the fog. Is there a way to make it show them? It would make for interesting gameplay, where you can see targets on the radar screen but can't tell what they are exactly without scouting. RadarVisible key doesn't work for this, as it would show things that are under the Shroud, and units that are under the cloak effect.

I often play with FOW, though i really dislike how units can automatically shoot on targets under the shroud. Especially the AI is abusing this really much as the AI doesn't have to scout and sees the whole map by default.

Not 100% sure its related, but since today I started using fog of war when playing the game, I keep getting random internal errors. I'm pretty sure FOW is the cause for the errors, since I haven't made many other changes. Not sure if FOW in general is bugged or it bugs with such a low value.

If it's erroring due to the low value, can you get a happy medium that isn't 0.01 such as .09 or .1 or does it take too long for fog to grow back?

I'll have to take that back, I'm still getting errors even without fog of war on Laughing 0.01 probably does work fine. But after testing I think 0.05 is a pretty good value for it, it won't "flash" enemy artillery units out of the shroud and back into it like 0.01 does. It also slightly helps with the very low sight values of infantry for example, since they can see slightly better when moving. 0.1 seemed too high for me, it just doesn't look natural and doesn't make sense. But that might be just me.
