I was about to ask why edit RA2 using the source code and then Hex edit YR but since YR's gamemd.exe is based on RA2 game.exe it was possibly easyer just to hex edit the changes in since that part of the exe in theory should be the same as its predecessor.

The reason they hex edited was... me!
Well, RockPatch, to be exact.

It would be an idea to ask him (or whomever is the community manager now) so one could at least get an idea of what the chance is.
But honestly I would wait for all of TFD becoming freeware, I'm pretty certain that's what they're going for.
Then, one could see.

A few people, including myself (via Muldrake) have asked APOC about the rules of Westwood era materials. EA employees cant touch that stuff because of red tape, but from C&C3 onwards, there is a high possibility of something.

Also, pd, the "Freeware" TS executable is the same as the TFD one, just the version in TFD was wrapped in a Safe Disc launcher.

The changes are NoCD, and code to alternate between INTR0/1.VQA depending on the CD.

If EA bought Westwood I thought they would have the rights to do what they want, or was it jsut for onwards releases? In that case, who does have the "rights" to the pre-EA CnC materials? Petroglyph staff?

EA has rights to it, but the employees can not touch this stuff or make it public without the higher level guys say so.

Mas, de vez em quando, ele traduz muito mal, como na mensagem anterior.

Maybe the "executive" level guys see that there is still value in the IP (Intellectual Property) associated with the source?

does anyone have noticed thatg since the 2.30 TS/FS the FLH of the titan is strangely kilometres off?
i mean its full of bugs but THAT should have been fixed a long time ago, altough the coordinates inthe Art entry are correct but the FLH shows ingame waaaaaay off

That's because the PBarrelLength affects the offset just as much. The correct FLH would actually be 0 for the F[orward].

nope. The art entry is wrong. The FireFLH key should have a 0 for the Forward value.
They simply made the mistake to add PBarrelLength=250 without removing the 250 from the FireFLH. This way the muzzleflash is twice as far away as it is supposed to be.

This and other bugs are listed on tibweb
(*) Bugs in Original TS/FS (and how to fix them)

When Hyper has finished his Patch, i think it will be time for a complete 2.04 patch for TS/FS that will fix all these bugs too.

I know that alot of people in the community in general pounder and bash the community manager, despite the fact that he could not put things in a different direction even if he wanted to, as he obviously is on the lowest end of the "hierarchy". A completely fruitless effort. Likely nothing would change and he'd loose his job instead. So please avoid pressuring and beating him to death.

I have spoke to Aaron a few times, and yea like you said above he dont have much movement, and its quite childish to "bash" someone who does more than the community could think of or know about.

Do remember, he does still play TS and RA on occasions, hes still a fan as much as you and me.

If you have old cds of tiberian sun and firestom (not first decade),is there a way to put the files from these in the game folder and do some modifications so it takes the language of your version?
I tried to do it with some random firestorm files, some ingame texts were translated, but the videos would stay in english (even when i replaced movies2.mix by movies3.mix from my cd),menus as well, and I think it won't work with just some copy/paste.

Anybody know TS enough to know what change between an old version (not First Decade) of the TS+FS install and this free version ? (I think they repacked the movies from TS in the same files at least, but I don't know how this affect others things, and what else could have changed)
Maybe that could help to do what's necessary to get localized things (and without copying lots of useless/outdated files)?

hidden comment: It's harder than I thought to not ask straight the wrong thing: please make me a localized version of TS.But I did my best to hold it in...but I had to put it here as a comment somehow.
