I spent 3 hours making a war factory using the 3dmax script. I rendered my building, opened PS C3 then brought it over to the shp program, but it wasn't proper. So I made a block to show how the building was shaped. The pic is my results of my sample. The green arrow shows how it doesn't meet the line for a proper squared off building same with the yellow. Now the yellow is unimportant since that veiw is hidden due to the fact of the roof, I can fudge that veiw. Am I suppose to make the general shape before I add any details to the building?

Trial and error, you should pay attention to foundation sizes. Is the war factory your making at the same angle as your example? is so, wrong perspective.

I sometimes adjust the canvas size in shp builder to get everything square within the grids, but only if its very close to where it needs to be.

And no, you can fully detail the building before it even goes into shp builder. use the reference foundations that are generated by Flyby's script, but remember to make them un-renderable under properties.

I used the script for a 5 by 3......not all lines touch the sides so the 3dmax building wont be centered. you said make sure its unrenderable, then how do i bring it to the shp builder. Im going 3dmax (render) then open PS C3, the copy and paste to shp, or am i doing it wrong

I've nver used/tried the script so i don't know why it doesn't works for you.

But you can take a look at the tibweb topic here.
There i've uploaded a zip (LKOfoundations.zip) that contains for every TS building foundation an example scene (with camera and lights already set, so you just have to render the scene).

You know Lin Kuei Ominae I had forgotten about those. I had them somewhere, i just re downloaded them, ill try them, thanks

Edit: Thanks LKO those work much better. Just so I do this right, I make my object in 3Max....render it, then copy the image to Shp builder. I'll check the link you sent later, im out for now....

be sure and render it in the camera view, not the perspective view.

Hmmm, I'm not sure why your having a problem with the script rendering properly either. It's always worked great for me. though for future reference, The "object Reference" boxes are for "reference" only. They are not the exact size of buildings. They are provided only to give you an idea of what size your project should be. Most of the object references are Bigger than what your actual building will be.

Ortographic camera ftw. And render without background AA.
