First of, FinalSun does work on the latest Windows OS, just not on full speed. Everytime I select anything, yes, anything from the Terrain/Ground slide menu, for example a cliff piece, the images of every one of that particular terrain type refresh in the selection panel (turn white for a split second and then reappear). I can't do anything while the program loads the images, and even if it only takes a second or two, it happens every single time I place that terrain type on the map.

You can just imagine how a) annoying this can be b) much it slows down my working. Any advice, or do I have to live with it?

This doesn't occur if I select any overlay from the adjacent bar. Only with the terrain types.

hrmm that's weird, first time i've heard of this and i would agree that it would be ungodly annoying. Also I have no problems running finalsun on my Windows 7. Confused

But to start off I'll assume you have tried running as administrator? As I did have problems with FinalAlert2 and I have to run that as administrator otherwise the entire screen is black. If running as administrator doesn't help then perhaps trying to run it in compatibility mode with previous Windows OSes if you haven't done so yet? Other than those simple things I can't really think of anything except maybe a uninstall/reinstall but i don't if that would work either.

The only other modding application i have that gives a problem is either the Voxel Editor or the Shp builder...can't remember which one....lol but my laptop makes an annoying buzzing/humming sound whenever i open up a new or existing file to work on but i don't think that's because of Windows7.

*facepalm* That did it. I didn't try running as admin because I didn't see how it could help anything. I did try different compatibility modes, though. Next time I really got to remember to try both before asking Rolling Eyes

EDIT: Well, it only partially fixed it. The images still flash everytime I click one of them, just not when I place the tile on the map.

running as admin gives the program full access, since older programs don't know about admin rights they try to run and find they cant do anything and hang/crash.

Same here, but I don't find it irritating. I do get massive lag when I enable the Building Outline option Neutral
