I have never seen this before.
You know how the game pauses for a second and it has to load the disk sometimes ingame? Well lately it happens a LOT, and the game crashes. It happens without creating an except.txt
Does this happen to anyone else? I'm really annoyed... QUICK_EDIT

error
You know I had this happen to me recently. I did a full restore on my computer and the game was gone. I reinstalled the game. I kept trying for 6 times to play. So I decided to uninstall and re install. I had the full game files saved on my My Book so after I reinstalled it I copied all files back over patches and all. It helped for a few times, but then I had found out the second to new FireFox must have a bug. I am thinking Firefox caused my game to crash like yours did. Normally I have the game, final alert, 3dmax, shp builder, tmp editor, photoshop cs3 open, with no problems. So i would suggest closing out all programs not needed. _________________ I am authorized to send out the TMP Studio, PM ME IF YOU WANT IT And check this out, these were sent to me for help with terrain and zdata help along with TMP Studio/Builder

crash
The game crashed because FireFox crashed. I normally keep what ever I want open while playing the game, but if the game crashes open task manager and close out a few things. _________________ I am authorized to send out the TMP Studio, PM ME IF YOU WANT IT And check this out, these were sent to me for help with terrain and zdata help along with TMP Studio/Builder
But... I have everything closed EXCEPT for BitDefender and all the neccessary processes that Win7 uses, and the game still OCCASSIONALLY crashes...
Also, to my question in the other topic, where I said that the game crashes and I have to force restart, it turns out that it is because gamemd.exe x32 was running EVEN AFTER I have logged out and back in... QUICK_EDIT
No IE, just freeze... freezed at either the main loading screen or the country loading screen. I try to END ztyping PROCESS gamemd.exe and it won't end! (For the other freeze, that is, not the freeze in this topic) QUICK_EDIT
[quote="Orac"]I'm sort of-- Wait... RA2 is crashing because of Firefox? I'm surprised, I thought that your posts couldn't get any more dense.quote]
if this is aimed at me....when Firefox doesn't respond or freezes up and I don't notice this, (doing something else at the time) and I went to test my work, it gives me that crash. _________________ I am authorized to send out the TMP Studio, PM ME IF YOU WANT IT And check this out, these were sent to me for help with terrain and zdata help along with TMP Studio/Builder
you sure your disk isnt scratched? I used to have similar problems, but then I burned an image of the disk and now run it on a virtual cd drive and functions normally now. If thats not it then I dont know.
you use normal YR disk or do you use decade? I think I remember someone else saying they had this problem with the decade disks _________________

I had a similar problem on loading YR with TFD. The patch fixed that.
I can't say anything about ingame crashes - could it be unrelated?
Which patch is that? I sometimes have it too.

I think that indeed as Mig Eater said, you can first try to reinstall try it, and if it then doesnt work patch the game. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
Only if the Firefox thread runs parallel to the Yuri's Revenge thread, but that's impossible since Yuri's Revenge is not multi-threaded. Neither of the run during the same processor instruction either since one only runs at any given time. There is no such thing as "multitasking" with a CPU; it's not possible.
So. Given that, it's not Firefox causing a problem. It's either an underlying problem manifesting itself strangely (IE; causing applications to crash simultaneously) or it's hardware-related. If it is hardware, it's likely RAM since the instruction location would be passed on a bad sector.
As such, if reinstalling Windows does not alleviate the issue, consider run a memory tester like memtest86. QUICK_EDIT
I ran a memtest, and everything was perfectly fine. I used PCMark too to check my system and nothing is wrong. Maybe I'll just copy some files off of the disk onto my YR folder so that it will not try to load my CD as much... QUICK_EDIT
