So yeah, I was messing around with that there new Ares feature, and thought it deserved an actual trench image to go with it. The thing is with bunkers and the like, the trench can't show infantry occupying it, so it looks empty.

Any thoughts on a better design that still looks...'trenchy'?

Open topped trenches would get owned by proximity shots because the shells just explode overhead and rain down on those inside. A roofed trench would protect those inside IRL, and save you some time in this mod.

I missed this, but how does a trench actually function in ares? just a structure with battlefortress like capabilities?

I think it gives infantry more variantion with their weapons I know MadHQ was trying to get the CNC3 effect with flame weapons insantly clearing a building

plus some tags allow infantry garrison to move to another building instantly something like a GLA tunnel would work

There are a bunch of separate requests, but this one seems to be the initial one:

That about sums it up, Infantry can move from trench to trench, you can even have different trenches (i.e. different facings) in the same network. Occupants have a chance to be hurt by and a chance to instantly die from, shots to the trench.
Anyway, covered how, like one of these 2, or something else? (yes the camo on the tarp needs work, and remap is a pain)

EDIT: Another note, trenches (like bunkers) can be taken by an enemy if empty

*facepalm*
Trenches by design are open-topped. A trench is basically a hole dug into the ground and nothing more.

Trench is looking good though, I think your best bet is the tarp.

A few added supports along the sides of the trenches would look good, but apart from that, everything EVA said.

I would add sides to it, but until they actually make [trenches] wall-like and have separate joinable pieces, no sides, just to make it look good next to eachother.
How's the tarp? :S

Scrapping this design sadly as I just found out trenches were created to be 1x1 wall-like structures, like this they don't work.
Back to the drawing board, only problem is...1x1 trenches? Gonna be tough to design... #Tongue

I originally though of doing something like a bunker like wall though I wonder if trenches work with the same wall logic

Yeah I think low bunkers would be better.

Walls are overlays & not buildings so use a completely different (& limited) logic system.
