This is my very first attempt at a human-like body in 3ds Max.

EDIT: Explanation

It has only 28 polys and I know it looks as far from a person as possible, I just started working on it.

That ain't a real humanoid, just a pair of legs. #Tongue

Try to extrude a body, just take it easy and slowly and you'll get a pretty nice one. Wink

Applied a MeshSmooth and added onto the body.
What do you think?

Scale's off, legs need to be bigger & arms a touch smaller or legs and body a bit smaller.

Thanks! That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for! But...the legs...longer or thicker? Or both?

Yes I know he needs a neck, I'm working on it and I'm looking like #Mad <-- that when I screw it up.

So what do you think of the legs?
p.s. you may not be able to tell but they are thicker and longer.

Not bad for first attempt. Looks way better than my first attempt. In fact mine was so bad i wouldnt post it in a million years Laughing
If I can find it in this mess of mine (my harddrive) I have a very simple to use tut for human modeling. And also have you tried fooling around with the Biped function? Max2010 has Male and Female bone structures already intact that you can attach your dude too. you should check it out.

da Vinci knew what he was writing/drawing about, so use his picture as reference:

Looks like you have a good start so far but it needs to be more defined, right now it looks like a clay man with the mesh smooth. I suggest using edge selection and taking the Connect tool to make the shape less box like before you mesh smooth it.

body is too thin in comparison to arm length. Stretch the body wider.

Its progressing well Palkia.

The Image LKO posted is Vitruvian Man, by Leonardo da Vinci.

From that image, certain measurements can be used to create a basic human form.
While the measurments are not exact they can however be used to achieve relatively correct dimensions.

I made this image to try explain those dimensions. I hope this helps.

How interesting.
We are watching the birth of a T1000,from the liquid metal puddle to its first human shape.
Good luck with that.
