Frequently Asked Questions / F.A.Q.
What is Twisted Insurrection?
Twisted Insurrection is a standalone game based on a heavily modified Tiberian Sun engine. The game features a completely new in-depth storyline which puts you in an alternate timeline where the Brotherhood of Nod were victorious during the first Tiberian War rather than GDI.
Along with the complete overhaul and replacing of the original game's graphics, gameplay and having it's own all new original soundtrack, Twisted Insurrection brings you an entirely new arsenal of units, infantry, aircraft and naval forces to command as either the Brotherhood of Nod or GDI in massive singleplayer or online multiplayer battles. The Twisted Insurrection client allows you to play your own way featuring hundreds of possible option combinations, preset locations and alliances and customisable themes.
The game also features multiple full length campaigns for Nod, GDI, & the new GloboTech faction. Play over 50 brand new campaign missions and try your hand at challenge modes, our own reimagining of the Tiberian Dawn (Twisted Dawn as we like to call it) campaigns and more.
The fate of the Earth lies dangerously unknown. Do you have what it takes to drag the shattered Global Defense Initiative out of ruin? Or will you crush all who oppose the will of Kane and his Inner Circle? The choice is yours commander.

Where can I download Twisted Insurrection?
Head over to the Downloads Page on our Official ModDB for all the necessary downloads and instructions that you'll need.
Do I need Tiberian Sun to play Twisted Insurrection?
No. Twisted Insurrection is standalone and runs by itself in it's own directory. You do not need Tiberian Sun or any other Command & Conquer game installed to play Twisted Insurrection.
Can I play Twisted Insurrection Online?
Twisted Insurrection uses CnCNet which makes online play a breeze. To run CnCNet, simply click the "Play on CNCNet" option from the Twisted Insurrection launcher (Public Beta 4 onwards) and click the CNCNet / LAN button on the Twisted Insurrection Main Menu and you're good to go!
If you encounter any problems, seek help on the CnCNet Website.
Where can I keep track of Twisted Insurrection
What is Twisted Insurrection's asset policy, can I use it's content in my own mod?
Twisted Insurrection and all of its assets, with the exception of public assets as listed in the Credits, are property of the Twisted Insurrection Team. You are not permitted to use any assets from Twisted Insurrection in any public project without explicit permission from the developers.
If you wish to use assets for your own private and personal use, this is of course allowed, but any redistribution of the mod's assets is strictly forbidden, with or without credit unless you've been given explicit permission.
Will GloboTech become a playable faction?
GloboTech were not intended to be a playable faction, their purpose was to spice up the campaign and skirmish maps, acting as valuable points of interest for players to compete over. Providing overpowered units as a reward for the player who was able to capture and hold their technology.
However there are also multiple technical reasons for this, but the main ones are:
- Being a tech faction they make maps which feature them more interesting
- Adding a third side has some negative side effects that we're not willing to tolerate
- The TS engine limits what we could do with them, as such they'd play very similarly to the already existing factions.
- The GloboTech buildings lack build up animations
- A third faction would require major rebalancing for all factions.
- Pre-placed GloboTech builings (formerly tech structures) wouldn't provide a GT player with any major advantages.
- If we ever want to get out of beta, we need to avoid adding unnecessary work to our to-do-list
That isn't to say that it will never happen, au contraire, there are people working on Tiberian Sun EXE patches that could possibly make 3rd sides much less of a nightmare and less-buggy. If this is done to the point that we feel it'd make adding an additional faction viable, then we may reconsider Globotech's role, but don't get your hopes up.
Will we see the addition of CABAL or the Scrin?
Due to Twisted Insurrection being an alternate timeline that diverges right after the events of the original Command & Conquer it is unlikely that either faction will make an appearance.
Will you update sidebar functionality to be like that seen in later games?
Unfortunately we can't, it's just one of the TS engine's many limitations.
Have you considered porting over to OpenRA?
So much time and effort has gone into the TS build of TI, it's unlikely that we'll port over to an unfamiliar engine, who knows.
Why does the game freeze after I save?
The game hasn't actually frozen, it's a rendering issue which causes the menu to become invisible. Try switching to a different renderer in the client settings.
Will you be replacing the remaining TS structures?
Eventually, we're a small team so it'll take a while.
That's all for now.
