Visceral Games, the video game development studio internally owned by Electronic Arts and best known for the Dead Space series and Dante's Inferno the game, is apparently working on a brand new Command & Conquer title:

Earl also confirmed that Visceral has projects at each of its newly-branded studios.
"We've gone to this collaborative model, all under the umbrella brand of Visceral," he said. "Each of the franchises we have in development, from Dead Space 2, which is close to final, to some IP that are literally in ideation... has a distinct team, and that team is spread across three or four studios. We're not outsourcing or insourcing - we really look at it as collaborative development, where everyone is on equal playing ground."

I'm skeptical at this point. Not that they are thinking about or begining to work on, but rather that it will be made/finished. So many have been cancelled, getting excited this early in the development process is probably not a good sign. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
I'd actually like to see something new. There is no way that another RA or Tiberium game can live up to the unbelievably high expectations of fans, and Generals can't really go anywhere without becoming a parallel history ala RA or a near future crisis between shiny weapon wielding superpowers ala Tiberiums.
They've finished all the other stories, and if they're going to make another C&C, I'd like to see them make something of their own, rather than piggybacking off the legacy of the more elderly works. QUICK_EDIT
I'd like to see a game that handles logistics a bit more realisticly myself: like having units only carry so much ammo, and having some game mechanic where they get more (wether theres ammo trucks that ferry supplies, or they have to return to base, planes paradrop supplies, or hell even something like the emergency repair power in generals). _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. It would probably be some butchery of Command & Conquer if they are making a new one. They can't be too ignorant to see how much of a failure C&C4 was. It seemed to me, a failed experiment when no body wanted one. So I'd go with either, RA4, which would be a dumb idea, or Generals 2. QUICK_EDIT
Not to be on the EA butchered the franchise bandwagon, but am I the only person who simply doesn't give a ztype anymore about new C&Cs? _________________ Victory! QUICK_EDIT
Since Tiberium Wars, the series have faced a steady decline amongst reviews. I wouldn't mind the franchise end with a bang instead of dying in shame. Similar to how Reach was a "succesful parting gift from Bungee". _________________
EA can't do that to save their lives. C&C's Halo 3 was in the early 2000s, and the franchise hasn't been marred by bad sequels. ODST and Halo Wars only added to the franchise, even if it was minute.

What would rock my socks is if they made another whack at Tiberium (the game) or similar.
I know Visceral could probably think up some pretty beast stuff making a TPS/FPS with all the mutated crap in the tib universe _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

Most titles/mods that attempt that are BORING. QUICK_EDIT
I think Generals on the CNC3 SAGE or RNA engine would be amazing, Generals is the realistic C&C of all. I hope for a Generals 2 as well (with the Generals, not just China GLA and USA) _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Most realistic ? Not really. In TD everything with exception of Tiberium, the Ion Cannon and the obelisk of light was real.
Generals has lots of weird stuff (Tractor shooting with anthrax lol). Besides I found it a bit strange that China hat mostly weapons which were used by the USA in reality (like Napalm bombers, Flametanks, the nuclear cannon, lots of Gatling Guns etc.)

It's true, but compare this to Tiberium, Obelisks and other features to Generals, also it is the only C&C subject which has only one game, Allied-Soviet has 3 and NOD-GDI even more. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
@Team Someguy: I don't think meticulous logistics would be the way to go from the start, but just 1 extra resource used by all the units that shoot that needsto be replenished from time to time. All FPS's do this, and in TF2, you have the engineer building dispensers. I'm saying to begin with, they could try something very simple. Like having the armory and outpost buildings serve as ammo dispensers. Then there could be an ammo truck to bring ammo to units rather than the other way around. The whole system would be designed to be as simple as possible, so as long as a unit is in the range of another, it's ammo would be replenished.
I want the trend towards streamlining C&C to make it uber simple to be reversed, and by adding the ammo factor, I think this will add much needed depth to the game. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Did you ever play Rise of Nations? This is a game that didn't do supply chains per se but had a system that was similar. The players had an area of influence based around their castles/cities that, if entered by enemies, caused attrition damage. To defend from this, you had to have supply trucks along with your army. It was an interesting system, because not building supply trucks or losing it mid-attack could be devastating as your units could end up losing a good deal of their health without you directly attacking them.
I tried to figure out a way of emulating it in RA2 but with no success. The only idea I had was to make every building emit radiation then have all friendly buildings automatically heal allied units in range to counter the effect, then of course that wouldn't heal enemies. _________________

I've seen Warcraft 3 maps do kinda what you are asking. It still suffered horribly in execution as in was boring to play.
Now say we did an ammo system that was different. Say infantry fire from magazines or belts if a machine gunner and each mag has a limited amount of shots before a reload is needed. Implementing that with say an FPS like accuracy system (where a hit is much more devastating, potentially lethal in a single hit) would work if ammo was simply that. The unit otherwise has unlimited magazines.
That system can be applied for anything be it jeeps, trucks with a machine gun, coaxial weapons on a tank/artillery/IFV all of that and be made to work well.
But reliance on a fixed amount of ammo/fuel and the need to bring in (and protect) unarmored supply vehicles kills the fun in RTS. When you kill the fun, you kill the game. QUICK_EDIT

Sounds a lot like what the Atari game Axis & Allies had (IIRC it's a 2004 game). I like the game and play it occasionally.

Visceral will now work with EA Los Angeles, EA Montreal, EA's Shanghai studio and a new outfit in Melbourne, Australia.
But... before APOC left EALA, he was asking for feedback on older C&C games, saying that the team was looking at what worked well in previous games. In short, C&C might even be developped by more than one of these studios, but EALA is still leading it with the JVC guy. QUICK_EDIT

It looks like a C&C game is pretty official and definitely on the cards now. I can't access the website (I'm guessing it's overloaded right now), maybe some of you will have more luck than me. _________________

I was on it earlier today, and the forums where up, pretty much a clone of the cnc.com ones. The website looked a little interesting aswell as having sections to cater for all the games. Also a preview of some spider style unit was seen...
A new C&C logo was shown, and i think its pretty nice, feels very solid and not like the current one what im my eyes, is child like, too soft. QUICK_EDIT

Considering how badly received it was by the community, RTS gamers, games journalists, game critics and orphans, I'd imagine C&C4 won't be the basis for a new game. Plus, people seem to be suggesting that this will probably be a reboot. Here's hoping for Tiberian Dawn remade! _________________

A TD remake wouldn't be a great idea, imo. It'll either be an exact copy, which is a little pointless imo since TD was pretty cool to start with and it'd make the studio look like it had no new ideas.
On the other hand, since TD was cool to start with, adding new things might seem forced and unnecessary.
If they're starting from scratch, then maybe they should go the same route as RA did for TD - something not directly in the same universe but with enough similarity to keep it within the fold.
There are plenty of alternate history scenarios which could be lived out in C&C - not limited to Communism/Nazism/Capitalism/OMG Robo-Japan/Space Aliens from Space. The what if? scenarios of even further back than the 1900's might be cool to explore. I'm a bit partial to Steampunk stuff myself, though, so I'm biased.
Either way, so long as it isn't too far from the formula it might be good. QUICK_EDIT
So... An Age of Empires, but with an alternate history?
Or to be original, how about during RA1 Einstein travels back in time to erase Stalin, which creates an alternate reality in which Stalin never existed?
I wonder what kind of scenario that would set up... Kane in Japan? _________________ QUICK_EDIT
At least with a reboot the story isn't going to contradict itself anymore (provided it won't change story writers in between sequels again of course).
I just hope the story and the acting (and voice acting) can be taken seriously; but even if not, the fact it's a reboot makes it not as painful to watch (kinda like how how watching a guy piss himself on live TV wouldn't be half as painful to watch as when he'd turn out to be your relative). _________________ QUICK_EDIT
I have given up hope on CnC as long as it remains in the hands of EA. I'm waiting for something to break the stagnation that is the Command and Conquer style RTS. It's repetitive and old and while the stories are good, the innovation in gameplay is not. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT
i´m for a TD-Remake.
but more in the way of DTA...
having a classic mode with exact remake of every single feature (including bugfixes, and maybe some little features likes construction-cues, ...)
and having some kind of enhanced mode with a lot of new features units, campaings and buildings.
another good thing would be if the would create 4 games in one... TD-RA2 _________________ just a simple logo by bricks @ raminator, on Flickr QUICK_EDIT
that site tells about that a cnc 5 is almost sure to come, with a new studio as lead, there was a "site" up and running for a short time for it.
what is known is that in the article is stated that its supposed to be a revival of the series. _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT
