In which INI or text file are the mission briefings, that are displayed on the map selection screen, stored? The mapsel.ini has only numerical values (for example "Description=768") used to find each briefing, but I have no idea what these numbers are.

Tibsun.mix/local.mix/mission.ini

\EDIT oh wait, you meant the map selection screen. hmm, isn't it using lines from tutorial.ini?

\EDIT
i checked now the firestorms mapsel01.ini and instead of a number, it uses a short string which is the ID of a section with the lines of text and this text also stands in mapsel01.ini. So i really wonder now too, where those texts from mapsel.ini are stored.

Nope, they aren't from tutorial.ini. I used to think they are from the mission.ini, but since I recently started to fix some spelling errors and what-not, I noticed they are from somewhere else.

And yeah, Firestorm has the briefing written directly under each mission section (the funny thing is, Firestorm doesn't even use the map selection screen).

Bump.
FYI, the map description texts are stored in Language.dll.

Dude. I didn't even know I had posted this thread. Two years ago. I was like "Author - Crimsonum. Whaaaaat!?"

But thanks for solving that out.

I think I might introduce an INI replacement for Language.dll strings...

I accidentally came across this thread cause I was searching for Mapsel.ini problems since I still can't get TI's GDI 7 to launch correctly after GDI 6. Just thought I'd answer an old question while I was here. Razz

That would be nice.
