Disc throwers
Subject description: Why do they all die?
Why do they all die if they're shot among a group? They explode and kill everything that is around them. I want do disable this property for balancing purposes. I have searched in rules.ini but I haven't found anything. I've changed the warhead of their weapon but it seems it has nothing to do with the weapon itself. QUICK_EDIT
Thank you, but disc throwers don't have that tag, and if I add it and set it to "no", nothing changes.
But I found another tag, CollateralDamageCoefficient=.33 . It's curious, because when I disabled it by writing a ";", nothing changed. But when I set it to ".0", then my problem was solved. QUICK_EDIT
I thought Disc Throwers were hard-coded to explode on death? I haven't played around with the ini for quite a while but I think that's the reason iirc.
My suggestion would be to clone the Disc Thrower and give it a name other than E2 as a workaround. QUICK_EDIT
If you make a clone of the [E2] you'll have to hack the exe to make the drop pod super weapon use the new infantry clone. You'll have easiest time simply using Explodes=no and CollateralDamageCoefficient=.0 on the unit as you already discovered. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Hm, in C&C1, the death explosion is really just damage done by the dying animation. Those "animations that do damage when played" are a dirty bunch of hardcoded exceptions though _________________ QUICK_EDIT
So you you'd have to hack the exe to change it (which isn't as hard as it sounds for the changes in question). You could either change the ID that does that (which might be the easier assuming it is as easy as droppod infantry changing) or change the droppod infantry id and make a disk thrower clone (note that in the campaign they will still be exploding disk throwers from reinforcements. QUICK_EDIT
Or you could call it a feature, change the vanilla Disc Thrower and Light Infantry into special "Drop-pod Marines" or the like, and clone the old entries as your new GDI infantry.
Of course, the E2s will still explode. QUICK_EDIT
-clone the warhead HE
-give this clone (lets call it HEDISC) to the disc throwers [Grenade] weapon
-add the HEDISC warhead to the warhead list
-change the verses of the HEDISC warhead from
Verses=100%,85%,70%,35%,28%
to
Verses=10%,9%,7%,4%,3%
-raise the [Grenade] Damage from 40 to 400
voila the disc thrower does only 10% of the damage when it explodes (thus less collateral damage and no mass destruction), while the weapon still does the same damage. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
