Is there a way to insert sounds into the audio bag? or will it work if I just stick them into the audio.mix which holds the audio.bag? I rather stick them into the audio.bag if it's possible.

I know ares allows loose files now, but my mod folder is way to cluttered with loose files and I'm trying to get everything packed up in .mix files

XCC Mixer has a sound editor built into it that will allow you to add files to the audio.bag file. You need to have both the audio.idx and audio.bag file present for XCC to load them. It's advised to extract those two files so you don't damage your game installation.

Yeah, just open the XCC Audio Editor (or sound), open your audio.bag/idx files and just move them into the XCC Editor, like you move a shortcut to the other side of your desktop.

once you extract the audio bag file you have to drag the files into it the file. i think you open bag file with xcc mixer and drag them from what every folder you have them in

well, adding custom sounds to the game was a question I had about 2 years ago, its pretty cool to put your own voice into the game, lol

Thanks guys.

So dragging/dropping into audio.bag automatically updates the audio.idx as well. Nice.

but it has to be in a certain format. I havent messed around with sounds in a while. I used the recorder that comes with windows and it allowed me to change the format. Couldn't do it on windows vista but ME could.

I think you open the mixer....then highlight the file, then open the sound editor then drag to the bag file window that opens.

I think you need to make the names specific I cant remember.

If you have a problem try contacting Kravvitz I found a forum I had asked this question, but I can't find the solution on it, and some reason his name popped up

I make all my Taunts/vocies IMA ADPCM 22.050 kHz, 4 Bit, Mono.
and everything else PCM 22.050 kHz, 8 Bit, Mono
as long as the ini's are coded right to represent them, they all work pretty well.

The game takes any PCM formatted WAV file as I recall.

Not exactly. Olaf's sound editor expects 16 bit pcm wavs or IMA4bit for audio bag. Now unfortunately you can insert an 8 bit pcm wav with olaf's tool but it misallocates format identifier of the 16 bit so it plays as static...

I've whined olaf to add the 8 bit pcm support (which exists in the game btw) as well few other issues but to date, no results.

Anyway not sure if ARES has the ima4 wav support fixed for SFX yet (the separate wavs)

Hey Cranium, would you mind providing some sound bits of what you have done? I am not asking for downloads. Just show off some of your talent. You have some killer sh&T out there so far. If memory serves me correct ( alcohol killed some brain cells tonight, they will recover by the time I wake) think you were working on Vietnam Mod. Looking forward to more previews
