The butt needs to be fatter.

And no, that's not a fat joke.

answering the question "how quickly can you give it a bad texture?"

hmm, I'll try playing around with the...stock and see what looks good.

The Drum magazine doesn't seem large enough, and the box, not long enough. Other than the gun seems to be coming out nicely.

Example. See what I mean?

So far so good though.

The lack of a foregrip on this gun staggers me or anyone else who's seen a Cagney gangster film.

the military version was simplier and easier to model

I still want to see some topology. Modelling things isn't all about how it looks, there is also some technical aspects you have to take into account. This is important for rendering, as well as proper texture placement. Clean efficient modelling also allows for better quality work and faster workflow. The faster you learn this, how better you will become at 3d-modelling. I have put up a few screens of a MP7 I modelled last year to show you what I mean.

Look at the bottom screen. See how my topology is clean and efficient? No excess lines or strange paterns, pentagons, hexagons and higher are NOT done. Clean quads. That's what you have to aim for.

I understand you are still learning, but it's worth trying some things out and then use them in your final projects. To start with, try what bevelling corners can do for you. Maybe you should consider to crank the resolution up a notch too. This model you have here is pretty lowres, and it spoils a lot of the detail. Ofcourse highres models take longer to make, but it will be well worth it in the end.

I don't know what program you are using, but if you want to get really good at modelling fast, it's worth buying some tutorials to proper learn it. Try taking a look here: www.digitaltutors.com.

Thats a really great gun stinger, and while I think it's awesome to make high quality stuff like that, I have more pragmatic ends I wish to fill; namely Fallout New Vegas. I've got the basic shape down, and once I get through enough tuts on the geck, I'm gonna finally extract a gun model and find out what polycount etc I should be... shooting for.

New Vegas allows for gun upgrades, so if all goess according to plan, I should be able to get both a standard clip and a drum working allong with the military and gangster grips.
