Tiberium Essence Tournament at CnCSaga.de has been canceled.
Subject description: And other community news as well.
Hey guys! Doing masters in computer science in my university is a tough job. But doing that with a schoolarship that forces you to do too much subjects at once and travel outside the country twice (ok, once, since a bus trip to Puerto Yguazú at Argentina and Ciudad del Este at Paraguay from Iguaçu Falls where my last conference happened are just accidental international trips) during class times due to conferences makes things a lot more difficult. The truth is that it's been a couple of months since I've touched Voxel Section Editor III or did anything significant for PPM, other than keeping the forums running fine and post a single news post in an interval of two weeks or so. Don't be fooled by my status on MSN. I'm not free and I have a bunch of work to do for my university with tight deadlines. So, if anybody has any interesting news that you want to be promoted in this site, please, create a new topic in our Community News forum. All you need to be is registered in this forum. If the news is written well and it is relevant with what do we cover here, it will become official news here. Otherwise, wait another 2, 3, 4... weeks. I don't know really when I'll have some spare time to post something here, although I won't let it die... don't worry. Hopefully, things should be better by july.
Anyway, here's a quick round up of some news I could spot in these days:
-> CnCSaga.de has canceled the Tiberium Essence tournament, due to online issues between C&C3 and AnNo1935's (organizer) computer. After several attempts, they've decided to organize a tournament covering a mod for another C&C game or even a game that reminds C&C such as OpenRA. You can post your suggestions in german or in english HERE.
-> linq2js has created a new INI editor for Yuri's Revenge that also comes with a validator. At the moment, it is being called Yuri's Revenge INI Editor and you can grab it HERE.
-> Katz has released a new version of the Open Source SHP Viewer. The version 0.965 comes with the following features:
build 0.965
+ Reading APNG
* Refractored SHP(TS) reader code. Work much faster
* Redone rendering engine. Now this Render-On-Demand instead of render all frames to array
* Redone Shadow and Turret code. Work faster and turret rotation is now separate from body rotation
-> Dutchygamer has posted the submissions and the results of the last SHP Building Contest that happened in PPM forums and you can grab them HERE. There were 4 submissions and the winners seems to be LKO and Cranium, both scoring 92/100.
-> CNCNZ crew interviewed the staff from CnCLabs to talk about their latest mod: the The Red Alert Mod, that should bring the original Red Alert universe to Red Alert 3. The interview is available at this link.
-> Also at CNCNZ.com, there is a new episode of Tiberium Legos:
That's all for now and if you have anything interesting to share with us, please, use the Community News forum. QUICK_EDIT
Yep, but after 1 hour of attempting to play the first match I don't know what could've been done. I'd prefer if it was postponed but whatever. QUICK_EDIT

Yea, it is really a shame. He wanted to broadcast the tournament, and doing that with a C&C game won't be an easy job. Perhaps it's better to simply use the replay system of the game, which works better. At least we know that it works... in the vanilla game. I don't know how does it work when you use mods. QUICK_EDIT

Well, some time ago a Russian team achieved broadcasting a Mental Omega game by setting a computer to Observer mode and broadcasting it's output... it worked well.
They already successfully broadcasted their CNC4 tournament, so I guess it's not an issue of the actual broadcasting process. It seems more like an issue with one of the participants having incorrectly installed the mod, judging by the description of the error. _________________ Off Duty. QUICK_EDIT

Well, from what I saw, is that ppl where kicked out of the pre-battle menu if not doing anything for around 5sec. You literally had to spam the text box to not be automaticly kicked by the game. I doubt it was a mismatched mod/game version, and more a problem with Hamachi or TW itself. QUICK_EDIT
Interesting, same here. We've been using Hamachi extensively for playtesting TW mods, only problem so far was some ISP not allowing the Hamachi tunnel through a mobile connection.
Thanks for sharing that info! _________________ Off Duty. QUICK_EDIT
