Which is the best YR mod ever?.
Subject description: In specific the downloadable ones.
Hey guys, I visited Moddb trying to find a playable mod, a mod other than mental omega of course.

Robot Storm, though it's a shame 2.0 ain't released. Still I always enjoyed 1.99 and if you haven't played it before it'll probably still feel new. QUICK_EDIT

Am against you, robot storm sucks hard, I can defend my base against the 3 of my friends AND the other 4 AI's, and they all are on the same team, robot storm lacks balance, I beat my friends with that raven transport full of the terminators.

Mental Omega is pretty cool....Purple Alert isnt bad.........Red Asian, Asian Alliance (really can't remember the name of it) was pretty cool. Now Kcirevam, was it really necessary to say my 1.99 mod sucks HARD if balance only was your main issue with it? Not that there isn't flaws, that mod version was last of its era with the westwood style balancing i deem faulty now
Of course public version you played is 2006 work and Nexus is actually IMBA in that version (in many ways) so might have been better see if with other sides let you win as easily QUICK_EDIT

I didn't know that 2.0 was such different, I only had seen now, however, mental omega all the way,still non of my friends want to install/uninstall NPatch all the time,nor do they plan on copying a 800mb of data just to switch mods. _________________ Also known as superluigi949 and SuperMario949.

no, but seriously, there are alot of YR mods being made, but only a very few are finished enough to be played. MO was always one of my favorites, but I'm patiently waiting for HolyMasters mod. EricAnimFreak has a pretty good mod, he said he was going to release it, but I dont know when, It has lots of action, extreme AI, and it definitly keeps you on your toes. _________________

Any mod which actually gets to public release has to react to
People who don't read instructions when installing
People who don't post constructive feedback (i.e. something which is specific) and just flame creator and of course ignoring the fact that the mod is WIP
People who will steal and attempt to claim poor derivatives of your work as their own.
Which damages people's expectation of the mod.
People expect your mod to cater to THEIR needs and requests
Not to mention the countless people who download your mod, ignore the readme, play for 5 minutes and don't bother to leave any feedback
Their is no incentive to post public versions of mod when you get this shit storm from people and btw for your info Mod DB is full of random people who know jack all about games development and will spam your uploads with irrelevant comments. Mental Omega used to be my favorite and is one of many that inspired me to mod... but now I do not really have any favorites and can not really keep playing any mod other then my own now that I can mod myself. Last edited by wardeathfun on Mon Jun 20, 2011 6:39 am; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
Well I've beta Tested/Played Craniums Venomrage a very little amount. So I can't say much that I haven't already told Craniumum.
But his Art assets are very good, His Ai and functionality wasn't all there yet when i played his mod, but its coming along very well and his AI will definitely beat down some people.

Thank you for the mod plug, that said, my mod doesn't even officially have a name yet. But it is very playable right now, and enhances the original sides, as well as adds 3 new sides. AI have been pushed up a notch, "although my new sides brains still haven't been added." It's currently using a testing version of ares, which is why I haven't released it for public testing, and it also suffers from some online bugs and it still needs a lot of work in a few places, but for the most part its looking like its very close to a beta release at the very least, I'll probably wait for ares 0.2 for that. _________________ Grab my Map Logic Expansion Pack 5.2 here!

Well, if you get used to your basic setting, then getting a TC can mess up you definitely. Like Doom Desire. I gave up that one fast because I couldn't understand how should I play it.
Partial Conversions are else, I like them, because the new side can be interesting, but I still can use my old tactics against it.
Lee, I guess neither one will be released because AFAIK they are both on "great state but still not mature enough"-state. I doubt they will ever be that perfect to get released in their author's eyes. Don't take me wrong, every mod can be polished even further, of course, but I guess neither Apollo nor Mig Eater can draw a line of content, polish and such.
