Hello, PPM members. I came here to ask you about TibEd I downloaded from a site you may be familiar with. When I edited a Conscript (just to see if it works) to shoot NukePayload (and this is for RA2), I click Run Game, Click yes on save changes to game, and went to skirmish. It does work, but when I do the same with Yuri's Revenge, I went to skirmish and the conscript only shoots his default weapon (and RA2 and YR is both from The First Decade game). Now after I reinstall'd YR, it doesn't even start the game up.

Please Help.

TibEd user.

You just admitted to using TibEd. You're going to be told to get the XCC utilities and not to use TibEd.

Real men mod in Notepad.

It gives you all those delicious secret codes that TibEd doesn't give you.

TibEd has some serious problems that were never fixed. You better off to extract the art.ini/artmd.ini and rules.ini/rulesmd.ini with XCC utilities and edit them with notepad or wordpad.

As for why it works in RA2 but Not YR. YR uses rulesmd.ini. I'm not even sure that TibEd even knows about rulesmd.ini as TibEd was made for Tiberian Sun that pre-dates RA2.

Fro make your Conscript work in YR. You need to make the same changes in the rulesmd.ini as you did in the rules.ini.

If you don't have XCC utilities pack. Go to http://xhp.xwis.net/utilities/ and download "XCC Utilities" this will have few program for editing almost all C&C games.

1. use XCC to extract rulesmd.ini from ra2md.mix->localmd.mix
2. open rulesmd.ini with notepad or other plain text editor. Read it, you will understand itself how to edit something in the game. Dont understand something? Ask here, see in ModEnc, or read Deezire guide
3. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER USE TIBED again, permanently delete that program. it screw your mod very much
4. Congrats, you just have make simple mod! Explore the rulesmd, try edit other files (artmd.ini, etc) and explore this forum to expand your mod!

The reason why i used TibEd is because I want organized area's. When I first open'd up the rules.ini, it was a HUGE mess of items and all that.

Also, can you give me the link to the XCC? I would like to see it.

Ok, nevermind, Allen sent the link. Sorry, I read the first lines before the full reply, xD

Ok then, I really am seeing usefulness in XCC. But now another problem is, which 1 of the programs should I use to extract the rulesMD.ini from the RA2 Directory...

use xcc mixer to extract the assets. The .ini's are located in the Localmd.mix

Westwood->RA2MD.Mix->Localmd.mix

Well, when I do that, it has only SUN folder. Also, I play YR and RA2 on TFD. When I went to C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Red Alert(tm) II\RA2, it had the RulesMD.ini, but when I edited, such as making the initiates cost=9000 (just to test), I saved it and stated up TheFirstDecade, then Yuri's Revenge, but nothing is changed.

Yes RA2s rules is mess. This is why I stick to TibSun most of the time.

Westwood->RA2MD.Mix->Localmd.mix is for YR. RA2 is Westwood->RA2.Mix->Local.mix the look for rules.ini. Select it than right click and select "extract" This will give you a pop up window that lets you save it any place but art.ini/artmd.ini and rules.ini/rulesmd.ini need to be in the RA2 folder.

Once save in the RA2 folder just text edit them. I know it is overwehming to look at the RA2 rules but it saves alot of pain later.

Once I save'd the Cost for the initiate, it doesn't change in the game. The cost is still 200.

Once again, I am starting up Yuri's Revenge from The First Decade.

To me it sounds like your rulesmd.ini is not in RA2 but I'm not sure what folder it has to be in since I don't have The First Decade.

Have you moved your new rulesmd into the RA2 folder?

Otherwise of course it won't work.

BTW, I'm not a real man. I mod in Notepad++. #Tongue
