Who likes the idea of me recreating the GoldenGate to be placed as buildings along side the bridges, yet still be passable? I've already started the process and if enough people are interested, I'll finish it up.

Well, my goal is to get the entire thing together this way. I will also make the overlay bridge sides to look like goldengates sides too; like in the center piece posted above.

Here is a wip image to give somewhat of an idea of where i'm going with this. It still has a long ways to go and it's a pain in the butt.

He is referring to a small brown line seen through the sides of the concrete, the part which I think is supposed to hold the support beams to the concrete.

That orangish/brown line you see is where the fencing will be added, it's meant to be there.

Also I have to redo some stuff thanks to WW for doing a lousy job on some of the pieces. So will be a bit longer on this than anticipated. But I'm working on them right now.

Got almost all the pieces done except for one. The other bridge head is all that is left, except i need to add some things to the center bridge head. Other than that, I just need to line them up and it'll be ready for you guys.

How do you did this coding wise? Are the segments separate buildings placed left and right to the overlay bridge? Can units still pass under the bridge?

The way it's laid out at the moment, multi pieces, under bridge travel is not possible. However, when I attach the images together to only make 3 pieces per side instead of 10 per side, then yes under bridge travel will be possible.

Pretty sure you could make it a 0x0 building with a big animation (i.e. the bridge segments) so units would have no problem passing through.

actually was thinking 1x1 blank builings, with anims as the structures. at least for the center pieces. But they also might end up being Terrain Objects. Havent gotten that far yet.

Or give them all a 1x1 foundation and in rules.ini Bib=yes so they are passable (though only for vehicles).
Or maybe make them as a gate without a gate animation, so units can pass them as well.

0x0 with anim *could* work but it would make them completely impervious to damage, since damage calculations against buildings are done using building's Foundation, and foundation of 0x0 buildings is obviously zero cells. That, and units/infantry/whatever could also move through the bridge support pillar thingy.

Oh well, I hope you find a way to get it right without any undesirable side effects.

I've had 0x0 buildings be destroyed like normal if they don't have Immune=yes. They are still within the cell.

yep, 1x1 Terrain Objects work perfectly. They allow passage over and under. They are undestroyable, but why would you want to destroy them anyway. They cant be rebuilt after they get destroyed. The middle bridge parts can be destroyed just not the GG parts. They can be made to be destroyed if user prefers it though, just have remove the LegalTarget=no and Immune=yes tags from the rulesmd.ini

The actual bridge itself will not change. Meaning the road the vehicles travel across. The end pieces that attach to the cliffs will change, but those can be added and used without messing anything up.
This project is driving me crazy though Laughing I'm having a rough time getting it to merge right with the end pieces. But I almost got it. Other than a couple minor fixes that need to be done, what do you think about how it merges into the cliff/bridge piece?

Shouldn't the bridge have water under it?, I mean it's really only one golden gate bridge, the last time I was there the water was eating the base of the middle part.

Alright. it's done. Although there is a couple flaws in it, blame westwood for thier crappy modeling of the GGB, some things just couldnt be fixed. But it looks nice and you wont notice the flaws unless you stare at it anyway. Look good enough for you guys?

^^I don't think so because it is asymmetric. The left part of the column to the cliff is much longer than the right one and for a 2 column GGB it would need the 2 sides mirrored, so the middle parts have the same length.
