Making New Buildings/Units
Hey, guys. For weeks, I am thinking what to do. Should I just mess with the rules.ini correctly to see if I am starting out nicely for modding or immediatly start making new buildings/units/animations. So I did the rules.ini part. Now for another 4 weeks, I wanted to add stuff into Red Alert 2 and Yuri's revenge. But I don't know what requirements I should have, what tutorials I need to start out then go on from there when it comes to making Animations, new units, new buildings, and all that.
The reason why I want to do all this is because I really love how people mod C&C despite the fact that EA screw'd up westwood.
Thanks guys. I hope I can make a mod soon. And not a bad 1 (example: starting money over 9000k, ya'know what I am talking about) QUICK_EDIT

Ok, it seems you haven't done anything yet. So what I would do is first learn to add new things to the rules/art, such as buildings or vehicles. After you master that (which shouldn't be long) you can learn to making new buildings. Certain animations are simple, but IMO things like explosions can be more time consuming. I use 3d max for making my buildings, but Blender is free.
And when you get as far as the AI, i posted something on this forum that I found that might be of some use.

Think of a concept you want to you have 2 side A vs B
.......the base buildings you plan to use. Are the the stock ones or do you plan to make your own?
* If you plan to create your own then start with that, making them. Once you have them, code them.
Do you plan on using the stock infantry & vehicles?
* If you plan on creating your own that would be your next step. Once again when finished, code them
Then once you have your military items then if you want make some new civilian structures.
Then code your AI, make your maps, then test it out.
One thing you can also do is make new terrain items, a new type of ground surface (grass, dirt, concrete), roads, cliffs. These are a thing that would take a beginner a bit of time to figure out on how to. I was making templates, but I joined a team and currently working on stuff for the mod.

Well, like I said (I think), what I need is something to help get me started. Lets say making a soldier from scratch, and that soldier will have the same characteristics as a Light Infranty, but with kinda of a different body. And we are using...what, blender to make him? If so, it SHOULDN'T be as hard making a soldier as making a simple tank.
I know we will need everyside of this soldier designed because your going to be moving him everywhere. Back, side to side, front. Ya .
Usually, it can be easy for me to do stuff, but only if someone throws a pointer, or even better, a simple tutorial. QUICK_EDIT
