Recently I added sounds to my new sniper unit for GDI. They were sounds that were apparently in the expand01 mix that comes with firestorm. I added them to the unit in the rules. Alas the sniper says nothing.

VoiceSelect=21-I000,21-I002,21-I004
VoiceMove=21-I010,21-I012,21-I016
VoiceAttack=21-I010,21-I012,21-I022
VoiceFeedback=21-I000,21-I002

57-N112=Looks good
71-N000=lets check that out
etc. they were all sounds that came with the game. Why aren't they playing?

I have added the above entries (the numbered list and brackets list with priority) to the sound01.mix but they still wont play. =( Mad #Mad

Some years ago, I tried using some unused Cyborg voices from the same file. From what I know, is that they where only used in missions as global sound effects. When I used those, they didn't play properly ingame either. I can only assume they are in a slightly different format that does work for global sound effects, but not for voices.

Hm, Mixer doesn't show any difference in the sound's compression or bit rate. Are you sure you have entered the values correctly? I see that you are using Chameleon Spy's entry for the base, and I am pretty damned sure that his voices work. However, at least the second entry is featured in FS' mixes, so could that be a problem?

Wait sorry that was what I added as a temp. I added these files

;VoiceSelect=71-N108,38-N108,71-N112 ;Commented out, need to be replaced
;VoiceMove=55-N010,71-N110,57-N122
;VoiceAttack=55-N010,71-N000
;VoiceFeedback=57-N114,55-N016

they are in the expand01 mix hat came with the UMP download. They are just unused voices and soundfiles I believe from firestorm so I assumed that the game would be able to recognize them. I think I saw some of these soundfiles used in Tiberian Sn Squared with the suicide bomber, was anything special done there?

The only aud. files I have that are named 57-N112 and 71-N000 are not the same as what you got but before any sounds can be used by the rules.ini you need to have the sounds listed in the sound.ini and sound01.ini.
