Tweaking rules.ini problem & adding new infantry
Subject description: Can't get infantry to work
First of all, hy to everyone. I'm new to this forum.
So, for all you modders out there, here's one that in the last few days i found very hard to crack: I want Yuri and Yuri Prime in Ra2 to be able to mind control multiple units like in a Y'sR mod called Apocalypse. What i've tryied so far is:
- Changing the Damage fields in both [MindControl] and [SuperMindControl] from Damage=x to Damage=1024 (this works in Y'sR but as it seems, not in Ra2)
-Adding PipScale=Ammo and Ammo=xx to Yuri and YuriPrime but this also didn't worked.
-Modifying the Controller warhead, put all those verses to the max (100%) and this also didn't worked. (this wouldn't have worked anyway, iknow, but you can't blame me for trying)
-Adding a Burst=x to [MindControl] which had no effect.
The only thing i can think of trying is adding a weapon from Y'sR, [MultipleMindControlTower/Tank] and hope this works, but since those use the same warhead as [MindControl] i don't really have a big chance of seeing it done.
Do you have any ideas how can i do that ?
Also, i've got a little problem with adding infantry from Y'sR to Ra2. I want (and almost succedeed) to add Arnie, Sammy and the Initiate. Using XCC Mixer i extracted arnd.shp,stln.shp, init.shp and the cameo files from ra2md.mix -> localmd.mix -> conquermd.mix (can't remer if this is the right location), made an ecache13.mix file and put those in. I added them to the InfatryTypes list, made a section for each, cpoy+pasted the units and their weapons from rulesmd.ini but when in game, they moved but without animation, it's like they were freakin' rocks, they had no voices (that can be solved fairly easy i think) and they also couldn't fire.
I can't show my work because after a couple hours of trying to add these Infantry to ra2 without any success i was so mad that i deleted the ecache13.mix and the infantry from rules.ini.
And here's a little noobish question: to add infantry to ra2 what do i need, shp, vxl, and cameo files ?
[EDIT] So i took a look at the [MultipleMindControlTower/Tank] section in Y'sR and as i said there's no point adding one of them to Ra2 because it won't have any effect since both use Psychic Control as a projectile and Controller warhead (and these are identical in Ra2 and Y'sR) QUICK_EDIT

YR brought the possibility to have multiple mind control via damage, RA2 ignores it.

Yes, i did, to all three units but since i'm so noob i didn't knew/forgot to check out what those art sequnces are and because of that, no, i didn't copied the art sequnce.
Without waiting for your answer, i'll do it all again, and hopefully by the time you reply i'll be playing Ra2 with Arnie, hopefully

Almost made it to work
Seems like those AreSequence sections were what i needed. Now i've got other tiny problems: sounds, names and cameos.
I've got some other questions for you:
1. Arnie, Sammy and Boris have cameos, but other infantry don't. Where can i find the cameos for Virus,Initiate, etc ?
2. Just placing the xxxICON and xxxxUICO in my ecache13.mix and telling rules.ini to use them will make these units have cameos ?
3. Everyting except cameos and sounds work well, i've added and modified weapons, cost, etc but my units don't have sounds, where cand i find the sounds for them ? They're somewere in ra2md.mix but can't remember exactly where, and oh, what are the codes (the three, four, etc) numbers in front of 0000.wav?
p.s.: I found some cameos but they're in jpeg, bmp, etc. What progrom can i use to convert them to shp, preferably other than PaintShop Pro ?

[Edit] Fixed the cameos, all i have left to add are the sounds ... which are in langmd.mix i think, but i can't find them QUICK_EDIT
1. Use XCC Mixer to convert jpg or other formats into SHP(TS). First make sure that you select the correct PAL though, cameo.pal in this case. I don't know how you can find cameos for Virus, Initiate, and other YR units unless I upload em for you, which I can if you don't have any other sources. If you have YR then they are in langmd.mix>cameomd.mix
2. For cameos, you need to specify them in Art.ini
3. Sounds are in language.mix>audio.mix>audio.bag and audio.idx for sounds in RA2, and langmd.mix>audiomd.mix>audio.bag and idx for YR. QUICK_EDIT
Finaly, i thought i'd never see this done... but it is!! thank you all for helping me.
