I think it was trying to say that roundness or not has nothing to do with futurism. I can't say that it does either way but the tomahawk or rather "Tomhawk" as you seem to have named it, looks awesome.

Heh nifty Drone Design...

Looks like a conventional Jet but has the center part looking like a Helicopter Rotor... Laughing

A small reminder for its attack frames you need to double the length otherwise its center rotors (if those are animated) will spin faster when its attacking. If not... carry on.

Currently thinking of Altering all my voxels to SHP's but dunno I've to much work to just throw it away, also sadly my poly skills are still basic man if can find the right tutorial ill be ending up creating something similar to RS #Tongue

IMO SHP tanks just doesn't worth it... seriously, with good VPL edits, you can archieve great SHP-quality results.

I get your point but Imo if you look at ROS almost every SHP tank is good, 3D somewhat give an extended depth and lots of colours patterns and etc.. (Although VPL's does something similar and like you said it good results comes out if altered correctly as I also might look at it some time later I haven't fully explored it yet and might change my mind) variation if textured correctly and light is not too augmented like voxels. In short its a matter of taste, I like voxels but I still think Shp made tanks is better as for the part after giving a thought about it for being not worth it yes your totally right I've done so much work just to easily throw away just like that and plus Yr is a limited engine so I wont even to try to budge and request from ARES team to make some kind of sophisticated system for 3D implementation since you guys have lots of work on your hand.

If you have all voxel as a 3dmodel, then go for SHP.
AlexB can surely tell you how to get 32 facings work in RA2/YR.

You know my statement: SHP > VXL
If you do everything as SHP you should also think about creating a complete new lighting. e.g. a dusk setting with very long shadows would be surely very cool.
Or how about some strange surrealistic lighting? everything possible with a pure SHP mod.
So imo scrap the ugly, limited capabilities of VXL and go for SHP.

However you should then consider making the terrain pure 2D and no different heights. Or make the slopes look more flat than usual.

Honestly, LKO I respect you for what you've done...

but you're blinded by your own foolishness.

SHPs are good for mechs (when you don't plan to use rocking weaponry), but tilting and slopes are actually what turn this game 3D. Maybe you haven't noticed in TS, but this game is in 3D, and every calculation happens 3D.

You're pretty much saying to give up the 3Dness because of using vehicle SHPs.

If you took a look in the VPL research thread you woulda know that  all those pros of SHP could be done with VXL as well by using a dummy section of the voxel. And keeping 3Dness because of using a dynamic thing and not a static one.

FYI, this is how my voxels look like ATM. I think this do look like an SHP.

@Bluboos, it will look unrealistic if tanks can't tilt on the slope. Just like Martin Killer said, it is a step back. :/

lighting is ugly. Your sun is on horizon level with the roof shadowed?
Where is the unit shadow? nothing visible on ground
Pixelated when diagonal? no antialiasing
simple lighting makes everything look like plastic

Doesn't looks that superior to me.
It's a nice voxel considering the limitations of VXL, but ugly when compared to the possibilities of SHPs.

It's an archaic engine - the benefits that SHP offers for vehicles are FAR outweighed by the problems.

Lemme think... Physics ingame, the lack of decent modelers to make the appropriate model, the lack of texture-makers for the said model once you get it, the time consumed...

And jesus christ, barely any mods get released anymore, and even worse, there is such a small modding community to begin with! Why bother with SHP vehicles?!
