Pre Release Yuri's Revenge screenshots
Hello guys. I found long time ago those, but I want to hear your opinions about this, cause there are some differences between those pre release Yuris Revenge and official one.
Mostly is discussion about pre release RA2 stuff, but this time about pre YR stuff.
So, what do you think about those graphics and changes?
Here, we see Egypt Pyramid, which differs lot from official one.
Also, look out for Floating Disc. It fires Laser Beam from downthere rather than using Disc Laser logic. That beam is bolded than standard laser and has some pink explosion. Both things are not present in offical YR.
Here, we see prism shoot explosion. It has nice blue explosion.
Also, look at Boomer. Instead of two Ballistic Missiles, he fires one from Soviet Dreadnought. Basically its same, as current Boomer fires two missiles of half damage than Dreadnoughts. But still, better two than one, because one will be shoot, but in case of two missiles, one has better chance to survive.
See this.
First, Yuri's base is in same position as Allied base when Yuri attacked London Parliament.
Second, look at those psychic towers. They have blue tubes, which are much better than standard ones we have in official version.
There is drawback now. Look at Psychic radar. it is same as Soviet Psychic Sensor.
Also, Slave Miner is little different.
Now, this is interesting.
We can see better those Floating Disc's lasers and their explosions. Hmm... I wonder where the hell are those shp files for that explosion!
Lasher Tanks and MasterMind looks different. MasterMind is kinda interesting.
Also I notice in all screenshots that Yuri construction yard doesnot have that crane-thing.
Also, look at Magnetron behind that explosion. He looks different from original model.
Also, explosions are lighter, better. _________________

Hmm.... But I can see it very well.

More like silver/gray like normal GI's as opposed to the black helmets in retail version. Pretty sure they aren't remappable either way. I do think it's better than the one in retail version though.
And yeah, as OmegaBolt stated, WW had tendency to alteir their early screenshots so some things in them do not quite reflect reality.
Oh and as a side note, you can't even recreate the disk laser explosion (with actual disk laser that is) if you wanted - the logic specifically prevents the warhead from displaying animations. Besides that, there isn't much of stuff that really shines in these pics either, blue tubes on psychic tower just look awkward as well. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Allen, sadly this is the highest picture I got.
But guys, why are stuff so different then?
if they already posted screenshots, I assume that it is final version, I do not know the reason why post one thing, and officially release another looking.
And I do not get it why they photoshopped screenshots rather than make anims and such ingame and took screenshots. _________________

Not to mention, those pink explosions are impossible with RA2's anim.pal. Graion Dilach, yes that is true but I can assure you that I saw once huge pink explosion somewhere. I cannot remember if it was TS or RA2/YR, but I saw it once. maybe someone was testing something, photoshopped too, but I saw it long time ago. Maybe guy made it by custom pallete, but yet again, I o not think that custom palletes can be implement in game, unless you override some of current palletes with that. I have not tested that yet.
Yes, I am concerned that in anim.pal there are no such pink colors.
Also I think game can use AltPallete in anims.

But still, unit pallete does not have pink solors either.
There is also code TerrainPalette=yes, I do not know if it can be used on Amins, I never tested it out. Some buildings in Artmd use Terrainpallete. I forgot which pallete is that anyway!
Nah, I think I will go to test out craps to simulate pink explosions. Most likely I will fail _________________

This is kinda possible, I just make something which looks like pink. With much more effort maybe whole explosion anim can look similiar to that pink one.
This is pain in ass cause only few colors in Anim Pallete can simulate pink colors
As we can see, some of pink colors are those:
40, 62, 86, 89, 107.. and we have many of purples.
But still, its hard to get such cause only few colors are available here, and Westwood's ,,photoshopped" seems that have many variations. _________________

Oh yeah, I just checked it out, it seems that I already have custom palletes in my Ares version
Awesome, I will check out it later.
Anyway, look at this:
Left one is cutt of from that screenshot.
Right one is left one pasted into OSHP builder in Anim Pallete, and repasted into paint.
As we can see it adapted very well which means that most of those colors already exist in Anim Pallete.
But look carefuly now at zoomed thing
You see that left one is really edited in some program. As right one has sharp colors between white and pink mostly, left one does not have that problem which most likely proves people's point that Westwood altered screenshots kinda. _________________
They used jpg back then instead of png.
All of those screenshots are in jpg. But still, I cut that from that jpg image anyway into png, and pasted into same. Still they differs much.
JPG compression in their screenshots most likely ruined some colors, which means that bouncing color will be even bigger if I got their screenshot in bmp or png, as there are most likely more colors which pallete cannot handle. Especially those pink variations _________________

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh damned Disk Laser ring! this tag messes with anims.

Well, I only make it by using its weapon to fire from normal location, without using DiskLaser logic
Well, laser beam should have Outter spread to be bolded, and to enhance that anim, and that should be it. Almost same, except in screenshot they used damned Disklaser logic which doesn't work with anims for stupid reason, if there is any. _________________
Well, they shoot from sides, if you look at them, and look at my one. My ones fire all from same location cause I did not put FLH.
Maybe that is point, I should put it, so they wont fire from same location.
But, interesting, I also do not see those charging! Hmm... Maybe they charged already, and fire in same time. Nah, that Westwood did with photoshopping images perhaps! That rarely can happen that saucers shoot something in same time. My ones shoot on this screenshot because I selected them in same time and ordered them to shoot. But Westwood's ones are in the middle of battle. _________________
It seems very unlikely to me they'd add laser logic which they'd then remove. Also note that each of the disc laser's warheads has a different explosion, which doesn't happen in RA2 or YR and, for example with the Rhinos attacking the Magnetron, the explosions aren't all in the centre of the unit. Now that you mention it, it looks more like the Mastermind is shooting the tesla... I mean, tesla tanks don't shoot to both sides of the target... QUICK_EDIT
heh the prsim tower is shooting cryo type laser
and it has a hit anim too quite cool but EA were dummies to delet such nice anim
Wow nice spot. It does seem like the Prism Tower is freezing the tank instead of destroying it... except for the explosion part. The tank does turn blue, for reasons unknown. QUICK_EDIT
Guys, that was the shit which confuses me. I cannot figure out which tanks is that under fire of prism Tower. And why the hell is it blue!
But does anyone know answer: Why the hell did they put all of those stuff when they were not going to release anything of this ingame?
Why they wasted their time on that, when nothing of that happened. You waste time on making disk logic which allows anims, then remove it in public version! So basically it serves only for screenshots. I really cannot understand that.
Also guys, those blue tubes on psychic Towers really existed. Just look into Psychic Tower cameo and you will notice blue tubes there! They did recolored blue tubes into normal ones, and yet again leave blue tubes on cameo!
Also we all know about Yuri barracks that building and cameo looks totally different. _________________
I vote for PreYR mod, LOL. I see the differences you pointed out from regular game dude. I would recommend doing a lot of Copy and Paste if you want to make a mod like that. I hope you get all your PreYR test working properly. QUICK_EDIT

I also noticed something interesting in the last picture. The last Floating disk shoots the tank but no light from explosion. Way to fail Westwood. Still ended up a good game. QUICK_EDIT
