Lately I've been thinking about bumbing this mod up to RA3 engine. I'm kinda bored with the RA2/Yr engine. Would it be a good idea or should I just keep doing it in YR?

If you know how to code cool stuff with RA3, yeah why not. I don't see any problem.

Yes. Your mod would be easier to deal with and it would fit your ambitions much more.

But remember that model conversion is much easier than converting to SHP/ VXL.

@Dutchy, I was gonna make it with Generals ZH, but my stuff has too many polies for it, RA3 can handle more polies which is why I decided on RA3. and yes I know about the xml format and stuff. Just glad the guys modding RA3 have made some awsome tools for me to use. Razz

@Deformat, yeah thats another reason I chose a 3d engine, allows me to use my models as is instead of having the headache of converting everything I do.

I say finish this mod for YR, then move if you wish to.
You have come so far, it would be stupid to quit now.
Besides, not many ppl play ra3, so you wont get much fans(afaik thats what motivate you to continue).

Well after seeing 3dsmax9 lousy functions and UI I just might stay and finish this afterall. I cant mod RA3 without Max9 and I'm just not happy with it. I'm actually shocked at how much a difference there is between Max9 and Max10.

So, yeah my decision has been made to just finish my YR mod.

Well, You could try finish what you started for YR and see about doing a port for an 3D engine afterwards... if so desire.
