How far is too far?

I recently received an email from Facebook saying my account had been deactivated as they didn't want me using a fake name (Alexander Zi Britannia, yes Code Geass). To reactivate it, they asked for a scanned copy of either my passport, birth certificate, driver's licence or university ID. I refuse to do so and simply made a new account, how much info from us does facebook want?

That sounds more like a scam message than a legit one. I'm pretty sure even Facebook will never ask for this information over an email.

Someone probably hacked the Facebook database and got a few email addresses and spammed some people.

How long is that account been made? I don't think they would ask for such things since I have an account that is not a real name, but its for gaming purposes. This was made almost a year ago and never had an issue.

Seems to me like your account may have been hijacked (in order to close your account, making it inaccessible) and then they've emailed you trying to get some sort of ID for fraudulent activities.

I would contact the real facebook and forward them this email.

one thing my friend told me, is that if you log nto face book from a different ip that face book doesn't recognize it could lock out your face book account. He knows how to build websites. He logged into face book the other day from his phone and it locked his account.

I have logged into FB with (about) 10 different computers. So have all of my friends. Maybe FB has shined some light upon me and my friends or they ignored us.

I like Facebook and I am not part of the douche army. I actually talk to all my friends and if they don't say anything back or say something mean, then I am going to eventually kick them from my friends list. If someone tags me in some stupid photo that isn't even in English, then I am untagging my self. You can't over use FB and be an idiot on it.
Things you can do on FB (that I think are okay):
Talk with friends
See what friends are up too

Things you shouldn't do (my belief on it still):
Tag a million people in a useless picture
USE ALL CAPS IN A RANDOM DISCUSSION
Cause drama
Play a pointless game that makes you even more of a shut-in
Poke people
Basically do anything that no one likes in RL.
