When you make the AI rebuild things via base nodes, it won't use upgrades. For instance the AI will never upgrade its GDI power plants or the GDI Upgrade Center or even component towers. Is there a way to change that?

I think to make GDI build component towers with upgrades is to just put the Vulcan cannon upgrade as Base Node on the ground and the GDI AI will build the component tower and Vulcan cannon upgrade there.

This is how Nod5a.map has the GDI AI set up. The same may work for Upgrade Center and power plants

That method works if you want the AI to build them from scratch, but what about a preexisting component tower with an upgrade that should just be rebuild if its destroyed?

First place one of the upgrades as base node than add a Component Tower as normal building next go to the option and add what ever upgrade you want the Component Tower to have.

Now if the pre placed Component Tower is distroyed the AI will re build it.

Okay... Try this than maybe it will work.

Place Component Tower as builing and used the Structure options an add an upgrade of your choice. Now changed the Rebuild from 0 to 1 in the Structure options.

I suggest checking out WW Campaign maps specifically Nod ones where you fight GDI and the AI tends to rebuild on. As that would be the most likely place you'll see how.

However, I'm pretty sure it's just as Allen's last suggestion was. Placing the component tower, making sure it's set up to use the upgrade you want, and then making sure there's a 1 in the Rebuild Box. Also you might want to make sure your AI side that is to do the rebuilding has a construction yard somewhere to do so. And the Money for it.
I do believe I've done it this way myself even but i'd have to look back on my playable but unfinished TS:CO maps.

I looked at the way WW did this and you are right: They set the component towers to rebuild=1. However on my map it won't work. The AI has enough money and a conyard, and every building that is a base node is rebuilt just fine. Rebuild=1 buildings are not. I wonder what I am doing wrong.

Check out the IQ setting for the AI player. It could have an effect on the autobuilding.

I did test the last Nod mission from vanilla TS, "A new beginning" (GDI component towers are set to rebuilt=1) and the AI still did not rebuild them. Can anyone confirm this?

So, I'm going to assume that rebuild=1 does not work on component towers with upgrades. I tested it both in the final Nod mission and on my custom map.
Seems like it just cannot be done.
