I've been sprucing up D-day with some Ares features & made some amphibious units to show off the alternative water image. You can also see a test to add working headlights using alpha images, it worked really well & doesn't lag the game as far as I can tell, I'm still working on the shape/size of the light tho.



The new units are the Ford GPA, Type-166 Schwimmwagen & BRDM, the PT-76 makes a quick appearance too #Tongue

I did try alpha lights as headlights before, but they lagged as hell.

Cool stuff. I like the shape of the headlights. I gotta get myself learning on this alpha light stuff.

Offtopic: Shame on Ares development pause. I still test but almost all my errors are my own fault. I ran into my first Ares-related IE just today.

the alphalights should be a bit longer and fade more out till the end
also you need a new anim for the water-moving thingie there (the rings)
maybe something with more of a V-shape

another idea for your shores would be to brake up those fluffy waves...don´t make them connected.
instead give them different distances to the beach...makes them look more natural

oh and btw... yeeeehaw #Tongue

I've been tempted to redo all the shores tiles several times but my g/f keeps telling me that they look fine & I should work on more important stuff... Well cant argue with the misses now #Tongue

The wake anim isn't multi-directional so making a V shaped one wouldn't work, I'll gona look into using alpha images to make better looking wakes on naval units, tho it will be visible all the time & not just when moving :/

IIRC, there is a request on the bug tracker for multi directional wake anim. But I couldn't find it. #Tongue
