Thought I would toss up a few civilian structures I have been working on. They are modeled after a couple you might have seen on MigEater's site. He said it was ok that I made my own. Once I finish these and the community likes them I will release them for others to use. I will also release the 3d max file so they can be put into other games like C&C 3, RA3, Zero Hour. I'm not modding those games so any coding would have to be done by you or someone with that type of coding knowledge.

These still need some work.

It was modeled off of Mig's pics. I got the name from Hogan's Heroes. The name comes from the Schatzi's Toy Company owned by oddly enough, Sgt Schultz. Is there a real bar/pub named that??

soften the textures on the bricks a bit. It's too rough, and will look way too pixelated ingame. Otherwise, looks great!

I can make you a great building, but texturing is my downfall. Right now i am more worried about the building, the easy part........then the texturing the tough part.

IMO Europe 1 isn't too bad, Europe 2 needs some help. I think the repeating brick is what throws that off and the roof needs some help. Europe 5....that texture needs lots of help. I like the rock look for the church, but that is going to be my problem model.

Think I will post up plain models with no brick textures just to get an opinion of the model, then after the main opinions are in then go for the textures.

if you use 3DS Max, then go to Modifiers > UV Coordinates > UVW Map. You can adjust the size and density of your maps. You can also adjust the opacity, and by making the diffuse color a central color of your texture, you can make it stand out less by lessening the opacity of the diffuse map.

well, looking at Europe 1 ...the the building is actually 5 separate pieces
1) the rock looking base
2) the wood trim
3 the roof
4) windows
5 the walls

When I make a building I follow this method for the purpose of UVW mapping. This way I can adjust the alignment or the density of the look of each texture. The rock texture is just that....a rock texture. There is no bump, displacement, etc...its just the diffuse color of rock. I ordered a book for 3d max, but its on back order.

I also have to place these models in game to adjust the size of the model to proper scale and which will also force me to adjust the mapping of the textures.

From what I gather from posts I read, people have diffuse color and a bump added to theirs. once I get the book or have the time and patience I can find a decent tutorial online, then I'm gonna work on the models I have fixing their textures, but thanks for the info. I already knew about the mapping, its nothing I didn't know......but you didn't know that, so just the same, thanks. Smile

Any time. If you'd like, I could send you a couple of my models so you could see how they're textured.

I have your GDI buildings that you posted back in January to to see how you did your work. Is that the stuff you are talking about?

Well, I have about 30 structures started. I get an idea and I do a rough building. I put a few in game and found they need to be rescaled. I'll post some pics of the semi textured when I get the basic structures done

No, I'm talking more complex texture work. I could send you the Federation Power Plant from Echilon or a WIP GDI Power Plant I made for TI.
