PPM has been moved to Dobby, the new server.

Hey everyone! The server move has been successful, although we have few issues. No data inside PPM were lost, although our SVN repositories are down.

We highly recommend you to not use the SVN yet, because that part is hosted on another account that hasn't been moved yet and that may cause troubles if you are going to run the any beta version of Voxel Section Editor III for the first time, because the files will not be downloadable until the SVN returns.

And finally, this server has a little change in one of its security policies that may break a site or another, like it broke our frontpage for few hours (the spotlight menu wasn't showing up). So, we'll verify all sites and services hosted by PPM in order to solve this problem in the next hours.

That's because Dobby is a beast of a machine compared to Nagini, our previous server. Keep in mind though that only a fraction of all the sites have been moved so far (although that includes some of the most resource intensive ones) so it might just slow down a little once everything is running off this server. Once all is moved and stable, we'll try to tweak the settings a bit to make best use of all the RAM we have now.

And regarding posts on subforum, have you tried posting something on a subforum that you are authorized to post? I mean.... I could create this topic here (which is a subforum btw) because I was authorized to do. There are several subforums on mod forums where only authors or moderators are authorized to create topics.

Congrats to the (mostly) successful move. The speed is a beast now and really a difference.

Can you post in comparison to the Dobby stats the old Nagini stats? I would like to see the difference between them.

That is accurate except for the Storage, as we had to install a second HDD of 250 GB to run MySQL off because of slow I/O.

We're still in the early stages of the transfer process and SVN will be one of the last things to move. If you really need to use it in the next few days, I've just updated svn.revora.net to point back at Nagini (might take an hour to propagate) so you can use that as the hostname for your repository URL. I will update it again once SVN has actually moved.

Edit: Weird, it doesn't seem to properly update the DNS zone...
Edit 2: Nvm, fixed that.

The problem is that PPM makes use of this and Voxel Section Editor III downloads files from that url when it runs for the first time (and the users do not have the required files).

replace "posting" with privmsg too. Sad

It's doesn't happen on this Forum but it happens on the Modding Forums.

It is related to file upload (attachments) and it is still under investigation. This problem also happens on other forums hosted by Dobby such as Revora and CNCNZ.

Ok, according to Phil, the file upload issue seems to be solved now. So, feel free to upload attachments again and, if something wrong happens, report it to me.

Looks like the backmapped Dobby version is also got messed up.
