Subject description: Orac's attempts with NURBs, Splines, and helpers have thus far come to nothing...

I've been for a little while attempting to create a model of a large vehicle, supported on multiple banks of caterpillar tracks.

I have, as always, hit a snag. PathDeform, the generally prescribed method, distorts the track segments what ever I try to do to prevent it.
As it stands, all I have are a bunch of wheels and a bunch of track segments laid out across the ground, as the picture displays.

So I ask you, wise 3Ding people of the internet, do any of you understand how to properly set up a caterpillar track?

That is indeed a little bit of help, Cranium.
Now the problem of distortion is the thing I want to quash.
(As shown in the attached image, the track sections are of varying sizes, which they should not be)

Hmmm, never seen that before. Atleast it's never happened to me. Maybe they are overlapping and/or it's shrinking some of the track pieces to fit the spline. Try reducing the track length a couple of links then try again.
I'll look into this a bit further and see if I can find something about why this is happening to you.
