The original Command and Conquer had great music. I want it to play in Tiberian Sun also.

How do I include the original Command and Conquer music in Tiberian Sun?

I've tried using XCC tools.

1. I used the XCC Mixer to extract the .AUD files from Scores.mix on the original Command and Conquer CD.

2. Then I used XCC Mix Editor to edit Scores.mix in Tiberian Sun to import the .AUD files. After saving, I can see the .AUD files as well as a file called "local mix database.dat" in the mix file.

But when I start Tiberian Sun, I can't see any of the new .AUD files!

I thought perhaps the format in the 2 games is different. So, then I restored the backup and then:

1. I used the XCC Mixer to extract the AUD files from Scores.mix on the original Command and Conquer CD as .WAV files.

2. Then after selecting Game as Tiberian Sun, I used XCC Mixer to convert the .WAV files to .AUD files.

3. Then I used XCC Mix Editor to edit Scores.mix in Tiberian Sun to import the .AUD files. Again after saving, I can see the AUD files as well as a file called "local mix database.dat" in the mix file.

Still, the game won't play the original Command and Conquer files!

I must be missing some steps. Could any of the experts here please guide me?

Thanks in advance.

You need to add the new tracks to the Theme.ini file, which is found in TIBSUN.MIX\LOCAL.MIX. Extract the Theme.ini file to your TS folder and add the tracks there similarly to how the TS tracks are listed there.

Thanks, ^Rampastein.

I added the following in theme.ini:

23=AOI

[AOI]
Name=Act on Instinct
Length=2.45
Scenario=1

But I couldn't see this track in the game.

I then tried extracting local.mix from tibsun.mix. I replaced theme.ini in local.mix. And then replaced local.mix in tibsun.mix.

This also didn't seem to have any effect. Have I done something incorrectly?

XCC Mixer can convert wav to aud. audacity can convert many sound files to wav.

Put the songs into an ecacheXX.mix. I often read that its a bad idea to mess with mix files that are not ecache.mix or expand.mix

In tibed theres a button for, Show in ingame menu. The tutorial should help.

Thanks, OrangeNero.

Sorry, I'm a newbie at this.

I understand that I need to create a ecache03.mix and add aoi.aud.

How do I tell the game to look for ecache03.mix?

And where should I put theme.ini? Should I leave it in the TS directory? Or replace it in tibsun.mix > local.mix?

Don't use TibEd

Use Notepad

The game will just read all the ecache mixes, you don't need to do anything, as long as the name follows the convention.
the theme.ini can just be left in the TS directory. Add your track to it in the same setup as the other tracks on the list and it should be fine. Smile

The game always reads out of the mix with the highest number. If theres a INTRO.aud in ecache09.mix and in ecache05.mix it will always use the INTRO.aud from 09. I am quite a newbie as well so might not take my advices as granted.

@Orac I am just saying theres a button in tibed to make the song appear in the selection.

I took a look its called Normal=yes/no and default is yes so if you add Normal=no the song will not appear in the selection. If you don't add Normal=yes/no it uses standard yes.
