World of Tanks
So who all here plays WOT? What's your best Tank, and how long did it take you to earn it?
Right now I'm a newbie still, I only have a Luchs tanks, but it's maxed out even the infantry. I have 20,000 more to go before i get my tier 4 leopard tank. _________________

T-34, too damn long. The A-20 grind to the T-34 was ztyping awful, but once you get the T-34 upgraded it... it can kill shit. _________________ Victory! QUICK_EDIT
@Volgin, yeah it takes awhile to get the next tank in line, especially when your at higher tanks already. I could always but some gold and do it the quick and lazy way, but that just kills all the fun of it.

Any whoooo, Last night was a bunch of crap. I started a game, went to the bathroom, came back and my son "minicranium" had killed 2 of our own team mates. "It's funny but it's not funny, no what I mean" So I told everyone what had happened, and the little pricks reported me anyway and had me banned for a day. What a bunch of losers!!!! I'm about 5 wars away from getting my Leopard tank, cant wait! But I have to wait till 9pm tonight to be able to play again. _________________

Yes.
Heavies: Maus, E-100, T30, AMX-50-120 (66% of the way to AMX-50B)
Mediums: Patton, E-50, BatChat 25T
Lights: Chaffee, T-50-2
TDs: Jagdtiger, T95

StuG III is probably my favorite, Got 8-9 kills a few times when using it. Often have fun in the Leopard too, can play whole games without firing a shot (no point when you are fighting tier 9 tanks >.>), just drive like a mad man scouting & cap base while everyone else is busy fighting _________________
Got my leopard tank now. It's pretty cool but like you said, it's no match against tier 8 and 9 tanks which is what they seem to stick me up against everytime I play with it. _________________

So are you gona keep going for the VK2801? I'm about 2/3 of the way but it's taken months to get that far >.> Whenever I see other ppl using it tho they pwn all so it must be worth all the grinding! _________________
Well, I just got my leopard, soo it's gonna be awhile before i get the VK2801. I have 199,000 credits and need 621,200 to get it. But I'll need more than that cause I still need to get the last engine upgrade first. The Maybach HL 157 P _________________

For my absolute favorite, it's probably the Luchs. But the Char B1, M4A3E8 Sherman and M26 Pershing are close behind it.
Got my leopard tank now. It's pretty cool but like you said, it's no match against tier 8 and 9 tanks which is what they seem to stick me up against everytime I play with it.
"Scout" light tanks get elevated match-making, e.g. they get put in Tier 8-9 battles very often. In those matches, you can passive-scout (find a bush in a forward position, hide there and spot enemies), counter-scout (intercept enemy scouts), prey on vulnerable targets (T95's rear armor is 52mm thick. Get the idea? ) in addition to just going balls deep for capture/SPG.

VK2801 can be extremely dominant when running the 105mm L/28 howitzer with HEAT rounds. HE rounds tend to one-shot most SPGs, as well.

You'll be worrying more about the 50k EXP cost involved, especially if you aren't running premium.

Before I get tempted to try this game... Will this game run on Slightly old Laptops. I.E: Dell Inspiron 1545. My Laptop can handle TF2 & Hellgate London though. And as far as what I'm seeing i think it could run it but i'm not totally sure... _________________ ~ Excelsior ~ QUICK_EDIT

I have Pentium D, 1GB RAM, and 512 Graphics Card. It takes years to load a map, and even if it does, 2/3rds of the time, it just throws me out because it disconnects from the server if it takes too long to load. And no, I have good connection, so it's not that. _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT

Load time is tied into your hard-drive. I had increasingly long load-times that often resulted in me getting disconnected in similar circumstances.

yeah, you might have some serious problems with 64kbps. Because first you have to download the game which is a whopping 5GB download Might take several several hrs to do that at that speed. So you may want to pass on this one, but hey if you wanna give it a try _________________

Rumor has it that the 0.7.2 Patch test server will be going live soon.
Here's a breakdown of what happens on the test server
Accounts from all 3 databases are merged into one database- Russian, North American and European server players play together here.
Upon logging into the test server, you will get over 10000 gold (only for the test server!) that you may spend on anything
Experience and credits are multiplied by 10x
All the newest features are available.
Nothing you do carries over to your original server.
If you ever wanted to try out a certain tank that you weren't sure about, this is the perfect opportunity. You'll be able to reach the tank you want in a fraction of the time and quickly upgrade it. I'll be on the test server under the name evanb90_US, so when it goes up, feel free to contact me for a platoon.
Patch 7.2 will bring a number of changes to the game, a brief list being:
Addition of the first American map, Live Oaks and Italian-theater map, Campania.
Redesigned garage UI
Redesigned target-markers (in battle HUD)
The usual bug-fixes and balance changes.

So another artillery (M8) ends up in the tank destroyer line >.> A fully upgraded M5 is the same as a stock M8 tho so I wonder if the M5 will lose it's upgrades!?
Looking forward to the T49 & M18, I prefer fast maneuverable tanks so they should suite me well.
The T25-2 & T28 "prototype" (the T25-AT too) are fictional & just make me lol TBH.
The 3D model of the T110 is just an edited M103 & doesn't look much like the pictures/plans I have of it.
Moving the T30 to the tank destroyer line makes little sense. Then again there are artillery in the tank destroyer line & a tank destroyer in the artillery line so logic left the US tech tree long ago. _________________

75mm artillery is worthless beyond Tier 2. The M8A1 will be armed with the 75mm howitzer in stock configuration. It was historically upgunned to 75mm M3. It's likely the vehicle will also get a 105mm howitzer and 76mm gun.
T25-AT was based off a mock-up for a tank-destroyer based off the T23 chassis. They had to use artistic license as the US built absolutely nothing other than the T95 that would fit the Tier 7-9 TD creed.
T110E5
The silly casemate design was one of the initial versions- though the rounded hull is a point of strong contention with the NA-server US heavy tank forums. People want the wedge-shape shown in the above.
T30 move might not make sense from a classification standard but frankly, it makes sense. Its competitive use in Clan Wars is as a tank-destroyer. Though I don't see why they couldn't just have it as the capstone of a second US heavy line. w/e.
@Cranium-
There is no server merger. It's just that the Test Server uses a combined database, so you'll be playing with Russian, European and North American players. Mostly Russian.

So, I got a Soviet T-26, and the German PzKpfw 35(t) and the II.
Was thinking at getting the 38t one. Is it better to go and develop more Soviet technology?
I'm not on the testing server...TBH not so interested in it since I'm still a newb.
The grind for T-34 is a ztyping bitch. You will hate the A-20 tank. That said, the 34 is a ztyping boss. I'd go for the KV though rather than the T-34 now simply because if you get KV and KV2 turret, they're going to soon split those tanks off and owners with the KV+2 turret get a free garage slot.
Keep PZ2 until you need a new slot and use it to research the Luchs. _________________ Victory! QUICK_EDIT

Grinding the shit ou- I mean, using T-28 was one of the worst experiences I had to go through in WoT (except loading screens). Sure you ended up with a gun that can penetrate 1-2 tiers up if you got lucky - but the Doomfridge's size and somewhat lacking (it's fast, but not fast enough) mobility got in the way.
And then there was a battle where my T-28 and co-platooned Pz3/4 got stuck in a battle where we could not damage anything, so we just sat around making jokes over VoIP, and right at the end of the battle, we went around the enemy and killed their Arty. T'was truly, a strange day.
And then there was that one time when I accidentaly one-shot my co-platooned PZ4 from full health with an MS-1. Bricks were shat by both teams. _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT
Just grinded about 8,000xp in the T-28 in about 3 hours, was pretty fun IMO. Just 2-3 games away from getting the KV now! I only want it for the free garage slot tho, gona go back to grinding for the VK2801 & T-50-2 once I've got the KV-2 turret. _________________

I personally enjoyed the T-28. Back before they nerfed high-explosive, the 85mm was a ton of fun. Would kill Tier 3-4 in one or two shots if well-placed. Capable of hurting things up to Tier 7 with AP.

I don't tend to play World of Tank too often. Mostly on part of the fact it tends to devolve into a grindfest after a while. Maybe if I had the concentration and willpower, but I don't count on that.
I guess I could consider myself a newb, because my latest accomplishment was gaining the M3 Lee. It's kind of sad, given I've been with World of Tanks since the beta... _________________

Playing WoT with other people through VoIP of any kind is the best optimal experience. Greater communication, and general trash talk while you're waiting around being dead.

Needless to say, I never even got a shot off, got killed by a 1 hit shot from an E-100 1 min into the game _________________

The 7.2 test server is up. It's probably not worth downloading the 2.5 gig file, however.
The test server has a max capacity of 36k and a stable capacity of 26k, and there are over 26k users on right now. Server is unstable and extremely laggy (it's also based in Russia) and there are huge queues to even enter it.
Furthermore, if you were around prior to the NA/EU servers being split, there's a good chance your account on the server you're not playing on was transferred- IE a suspended account with no battles. meh, I'll stick with the server I'm using now. I'm having a blast and gotten to know alot of people already. My VK2001 with my just added 10.5 CM cannon is pretty sweet and fun to play with. I love running circles around the bigger slower moving tanks and blasting away at them. _________________

yeah, the VK2801 was a waste of time and energy. I was appalled when I realized "to late of course" that you couldnt branch off of it. But yeah, It costs more to service it than you make in credits.
I back tracked and took another direction, I just got my Tiger yesterday and already have most of the updated modules.
7.2 officially came out today, I love what they have done so far. They even gave me an extra day on my premium account.. I may have to start a china tech tree. _________________

There was only one Chinese tank & you could only get it with gold. It was just the Chinese copy of the T-54 tho, TBH I'd rather have the original. _________________
