Cheese
Subject description: in all it's glory...
I love it. Gotta say that 8 year aged cheddar is damn good. And that Gorgonzola blue is delicious also.
So now...let's talk cheese.
Any other cheese lovers here? If so what's your favorite cheese?
But more importantly...suggest me a cheese to try out. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

I don't know about you, but that looks horrifying. Did it crawl out from the depths of hell? _________________

I love cheese! I guess I developed my taste for it much better when I was in a relationship with a French woman. My favorites are definitely Roquefort, Pont-l'Évêque and Camembert. Though Roquefort smells worse than a homeless man's unchanged 3 month old sock hahaha. QUICK_EDIT

I like Gorgonzola mixed with stuff, but I don't like it pure. But cheddar is awesome on every situation, although I have to moderate myself with it because of the cholesterol. QUICK_EDIT

I *lovelovelove* sharp cheddar and colby jack cheeze. I could eat it all day every day, if it didn't make me constipated. _________________ "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." -Adam Young QUICK_EDIT

I'm quite surprised that Americans know of cheese that isn't squeezy.
I'm quite picky with my cheeses (particularly the texture) so I like creamy, crumbly cheeses like Cheshire, Caerphilly and Wensleydale.
Also Orac, the colouring in coloured cheeses should have no taste.
Finally, a nice cheese to have on burgers is halloumi. It's a strange cheese (it makes a squeaky noise when you eat it raw) but when grilled for a bit on both sides and put into a burger it's really nice. However, it's a cheese from Cyprus so I don't know how common it would be in North America (or even outside Europe). _________________

lol sadly many don't. especially the younger people over here these days. And it really is sad since cheese is one of those sinfully delicious things. Though sadly like banshee said...is not good for your cholesterol.

this sounds good. If there's any place I'll be able to find it, it'll be at Jungle Jim's International Market where I got those two cheeses in the first picture. They have a massive cheese selection and most of it is divided by region too. Though I don't think Cyprus was one of the listed regions on their signs.
all cheeses down that stretch plus the other side of it is just like it. Then there's a few separate areas for special cheeses and also one area just for blue type cheeses. There's also a counter where they can make cuts to certain ones and help you out with if you need help.
and if anyone wants to suggest a particular hot sauce they like...I could probably find it there too.... (/i love spicy stuff too)

Yeah, good luck trying to find this. Apparently some german product marketed primarily to the East (hence I've only found it from Lidl stores). But damn the stuff is spicy. _________________
Us Romanians have dozens of types of cheese. So I can't say that I share your opinions. Indeed, we have some stuff similar to Mozzarella, and they are good, but they are better.
Not to mention that we have our own kind of feta cheese, except it doesn't disintegrate. And it has a gum-like texture. And it's salty. It's brilliant. Sadly, it has a popular name ("telemea"), yet people don't know that we have 27 totally different telemea cheese types.
We also have some other, more interesting ones. Most of them can't be described. The most unpopular, yet interesting one is the one which is left in the hole of a tree. It's incredible, but it's popular, and it tastes quite good. Yet it's rarity. QUICK_EDIT

Rodolphe de Muenier Creme de Citeax is my favorite! A creamy triple creme brie with an amazing texture and flavor. _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

I thought there was some sort of scale of the cheese's strength which could be gauged from whether it is blue, green, or red?
Cheese tends to be white, yellow or blueish. A really strong cheese won't necessarily be a different colour to a milder cheese. For example, fifferent strength Cheddars are all the same colour. Red/orange cheeses are created by using a dye that has no taste.
Blue/green cheeses are such because they have certain mould growing in them. I suspect that the mould gives the cheese a stronger taste but the cheese can be strong without it. _________________

cheese is acutually good for you, as long as it's eaten in moderation. I like my Mild Cheddar and Colby cheeses _________________
