Its being years since i even play TS and now im back in the moding game.

I missed the good old community so i decided to come back after digging up my old gaming rig, also how can i change my name from cal chillin as it is to chavy to cal rule which is my last name just incase people think i have put it because i think i rule lol as i have forgot, it just show up bold in profile edit

which brings me to my question why does TS an old low requiring game lag like hell on my new computer but not the old one Confused Exclamation ?

I Have try all the fixes just to let you all know.

You can't change your username on PPM any more. If you ask Banshee, he may be kind enough to do it for you.

TS is notorious for being problematic on newer systems and performing much better on older systems. There is no guaranteed fix, you could try adding DDRAW.dll to your TS directory, but it doesn't work for everyone (if you get a black screen then I'm afraid you're one of the unlucky ones).

I didn't know you were from Birmingham too, by the way. What area, out of curiosity? Razz

Actually, no. I'm not changing people's name anymore unless they have less than 5 posts and it also depends on these posts.

Oh yeah, should've add "- Usernames" to the list of things that never change in PPM.

The Birmingham Gang grows even more.

Welcome back, Cal. About the lag, darken.shp (upon building, the shadow which is displayed on top of each building icon in the sidebar, except for the one you're building) is known to cause major slowdown on newer softwares. It's best to replace it with a blank (use colour #0) SHP altogether.

I'm happy using the old system and I don't want to remove or change the original shp. file as I like the original theme.

And Tipton in the black county it by Dudley.

I suppose I will have to stick to this name then ow well Very Happy

FYI, all Vista / 7 (and Windows 8 I assume) systems get a black screen with that ddraw.dll.

Yeah, but Intel GMA/HD Graphics users get black screen even WITHOUT it. #Tongue

From what I've seen TS has problems with different GPUs; Both older and newer ones, even though issues seem to be more frequent with newer GPUs.

I'm guessing the lack of VideoBackBuffer's functionality causes a lot of the performance problems. The issue with integrated Intel GPUs I have no idea about.

At DTA's forum someone had a problem with TS being unable to set the video mode with his GTX 560 Ti, it was fixed by running the game in windowed mode. Might be worth a try for some other non-performance related issues aswell.
