Hey all, ive been modding Tiberian sun on and off for several years and am currently making my best mod right now and would like to ask a few questions to the more experienced modders out there. If you can answer my questions it would greatly be appreciated.

1. How can I make the dropship (which I have functional) hold vehicles as its pip storage?

2. Ive looked and looked, where is the veteran and elite icons in the TS game files, i feel like ive scoured them 50 times for em : /

3. Is it possible in TS to remove Silos and tiberium storage without going to great programming lengths? eg. Red Alert 2

4. I see alot of people opening the .ini files and going line by line for their modding, I use Tibed. Is there a reason why I dont hear much people talking about it?

5. How am I able to change the color of the lasers since i have more than one type of laser unit?

I am currently making a mod and would like to showcase it on the forums, but i need to resolve these following issues before I do. Thx again very much Smile

Welcome to PPM.

1) I'm guessing that's impossible, but someone else could know better as I don't have experience with that.

2) Seems to be Conquer.mix\pips.shp.

3) You can put a very high number for Storage=, I don't think you can completely remove it though.

4) From what I've read, Tibed hides a lot of modding potential from you and can also mess up your INI files. I've personally never used it though, but it's greatly recommended that you use a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++.

5) You can't change the outer laser color, only the inner laser color. If you want to create a laser that doesn't have red as its outer color, I'd recommend using a railgun particlesystem for the weapon instead.

Hey thx, in RA2 the hover transports haul vehicles aswell as men so I wanted to apply the same thing to the Dropship if anyone knows.

I have one last question:

6. Now ive added some new units into my mod and have started to edit the AI to construct these units, but am running into a problem. Ive edited the unit Taskforces in the aifs.ini and have added the new units in with the current ones and replaced some. But when i play the game, the bots do not construct any of the units ive added accept the mammoth tank for some reason. Only reason for this is I assume is the mammoth tanks work because that unit existed in the game files already.

Is there somewhere else in the ini files where i must add more unit information to have the bots make them?

No, taskforces should be all you have to edit. If you can build the units, the AI should be able to build them aswell if the units are in listed in its taskforces. Check your AI(fs).ini for typos and such.

No I havent, this will be my first Smile

I would like to showcase my mod on the forums and the progress ive made with it, is there a specific forum to do that or is here fine? This isnt a giant project, just something ive done on my own time that id like feedback and some members might be interested.

Impossible

Only available via map triggers or if you mod RA2 instead

Hyper 'might' be working on this in his upcoming TS Patch however so it
might be worth checking out the 'HyperPatch' sub forums here

Oh i meant I have the dropship in game but its doesnt have storage atm. Guess thats what messes it up.

I tried to change the Veteran icons but im running into a problem. I convert the tibsun\conquer\pips.shp to pcx's, then I edited what i needed. After im done i convert it back to SHP in mixer under palette.pal and all looks good. But when i enter game the black backround is being displayed, i thought that black 0.0.0 means the game considers it alpha and doesnt display it. Am i doing something wrong?

I personally use Notepad++ to mod TS/RA2. I wouldn't recommend TibEd as per abovementioned reasons. It does not show all functions and could duplicate and mess up your .ini files - personal experience.

Regarding the pip, take the original and use SHP Builder directly.
