Does anyone know of any good programs or websites that will allow me to create an animated GIF, as well as allow me to upload a large amount of images without quality loss?

I've tried several websites, but the good ones won't allow me to upload more than a handful of images, whereas the sites that allow me to upload more images are complete crap.

One of the sites I used produced this:

However, it's been resized smaller, most of the images are suffering from quality loss, and some of them have been chopped at the edges.

I use Photoshop (CS5) for creating animated GIFs, but take in mind that animated GIFs can never have more than 256 colors, regardless of what program you use.

Also, Find Image Host is a pretty reliable site for finding free image hosts.

I use Animation Shop 3. I've had it quite sometime now, but I think there was a free version of it, but cant remember. Just take a look around for it.

Is the newest GIMP already able to set the delay between the frames?
My Avatar was done with gimp, but i wasn't able to give each frame a different delay. Only a global delay for all frames.

True, but I doubt that is needed. I actually doubt many of the other programs could do what you said.

You mean like say...

Frame 1 = 1 second, Frame 2 = 3 Seconds, And so forth....

Not sure about GIMP but CS5 has it. In CS5 you can specify the speed of each frame though.

^^exactly
Ulead GIF Animator allows to set specific delays as well.
In addition is it afaik one of very few programs which has the license to use the gif compression.

GIMP does not support frame-specific delays. Photoshop does though, as Atomic_Noodles pointed out above.

The patent on the compression method expired years ago. It has been free to use since then.

Off-topic: GIF needs to die already, all it's good for is animated images. A replacement is long overdue thanks to some of the limitations of GIF format such as 1-bit transparency. Currently unofficial & poorly supported APNG and vector graphic formats (which can include bitmap/raster graphics) being the most potential successors in my opinion.
