What is the best, crash free-est way to play TS?
Basically, I've played a LOT of Tiberian Sun a pretty long time ago, but everytime I try to play it now, I get some kind of crash along the way. I'd just like to play some skirmish vs the AI, to see if I got any better since I was around 12.
Which release do I need to have? What kind of patches? Do I need to enable some other options I don't know about?
I haven't been in the loop of TS modding since, well, never, really (I downloaded some mods a while ago, but never really was active or anything). QUICK_EDIT
95% of the crashes ive gotten was when a laser was fired in the corner of the screen. I remedied this by changing all lazer effects to be like the ghoststalker railgun. The laser effect isnt as spectacular but it works. _________________ MODDB Profile: http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-second-tiberium-war
If you get Internal Errors or IEs, upload the except.txt (generated into your SUN folder) here.
WaveClass errors are crashes caused by the laser effect and disruptor sonic waves, like Aydra mentioned. ddraw.dll fixes these for some computers, while causing a black screen for others (but most of the time these computers don't get any errors). You can get Hyper's WaveClass fix from here. _________________
Alright, most crashes I get on seemingly random moments - for example, I just did a Skirmish with Nod vs GDI, with me as Nod.
Game went on fine for a while, but then GDI attacked me with some infrantry. I sent my Cyborgs, Attack Buggy and Infantry on them, and the game crashed. I haven't build any base defenses yet, so I don't think it can be the laser.
No EXCEPT.TXT was created.
I used this version of Tiberian Sun:

And I am running Windows 7 64 bit.
No patches yet, since I the Waveclass fix for FreeTS gave a 404 error. QUICK_EDIT

It's probably the fog internal crash then. You can disable it but that sucks big time, though. QUICK_EDIT

missplaced tiberian on slopes / ramps also causing a IE O.o
1. Set the visual details to medium and use the cchyper-patch
The cchyper-patch fixes the wavclass-Bug and adds performance
medium-Details: fixes the Laserdrawclass-Bug... (the differents between medium and high are little!
2. Crashes on Custom-Maps
if you want to play custom maps and the game is crashing while exploring hidden places near tiberian fields. This crash will occour on some custom-Maps (i have found some) when Tiberian is drawed on slopes or cliffs (look at atachment) with FINAL SUN In this case you should remove the missplaced field in final-sun, save the Map (then restart the game)
in addition, you should send a friendly Bug-report with bug-Description) these Bug to the Person, who create the Map (via E-Mail or pm)!

The second one can be explained simply: there are special slope versions of Tiberium crystals that must be used on slopes. If the (lazy) mapper uses the generic Tiberium painter to put Tiberium on slopes, the game crashes as soon as you see them (whether covered by Fog of War or not). The solution is either remove the Tiberium from the slopes, or manually put the sloped version of Tiberium on the slopes (which can be an annoying task). QUICK_EDIT
There are sloped versions of Tiberium? I demand evidence. Seriously, I've never seen it or I completely missed it if I did. _________________ KGR | AT

It's under Special / Overlay > All overlay. Mind that All overlay won't be listed if Beginner mode is enabled (you can disable it under Options). _________________ QUICK_EDIT
I don't do that much with Tiberian Sun. I thought this was common knowledge. _________________ KGR | AT
