Recently i made two new Paladin units, and since 2 months went without an update, i think it's time to show them here.
Sadly, i haven't done more, as those two took much longer to make than i expected...


Paladin Ortus
Characteristic:

  • pressure - all enemy non-mindless enemy units in the vicinity suffer a severe movement penalty
  • can detect hidden units
  • disables any radar nearby
  • base construction



Paladin Dominus

  • pressure - all enemy non-mindless enemy units in the vicinity suffer a severe movement penalty
  • can detect hidden units
  • disables any radar nearby
  • can carry up to 12 slots of units

Damn, that's some sweet design there. Reminds me of the more cyberpunkish designs in TD before they went for a more contemporary style.

Is it wrong if I said that I actually preferred the gold scheme for the Paladin back then? I know you've since given that colour scheme for the human faction but the Paladins now look more like the other alien faction (Vintarid?), only with their vehicles having a huge slab of blue crystal thingy on them Confused

Don't get me wrong, these are still impressive. Especially the .vpl editing which allows for glowing colours Smile

It's nothing wrong in saying that you prefer that style. #Tongue
However, i don't think it will be back, as it made Paladin units look too much Protoss-like. While it might not be a bad thing, these "new" Paladins aren't exactly the faction they were in the old beta, and i didn't want the coloring to suggest otherwise. I also want to make them a separate side, not a clone of SC Protoss.

I understand that at the moment people might be confused what are they supposed to be. I guess it's my fault, since i provided little info about the side, and only one Vintarid units was showed as of yet. Once i do more stuff for Vintarids, the style difference will be more apparent.

But if you think this stuff looks alien, just wait for the next update (or the one after). You really won't be sure anymore what are they supposed to be as a side. #Tongue
