The Emerald Prophecy
We are proud and happy to announce Emerald Prophecy has gone live. After a lengthy pre-development we are now up and running on Mod DB, showcasing a small selection of some of the stuff we have in store for you.
We became aware of this after we had decided to post the announcement. We had originally intended to share content with you in the initial post, but we also found it redundant at the same time due to us linking you to our Moddb profile page. Yes even still it's a mod announcement, but we figured it would get seen here better than it would in the Public Mod Announcement sub-forum. Especially since we are already hosted here on the website, yet hidden away as we were not yet ready to reveal our project.
This was pretty much a courtesy post for anyone who would be interested watching our project develop. If we had simply un-hid our sub forum I doubt it'd get seen in the long list of pre-alpha projects. Even now our forum is hidden and we are awaiting banshee's approval to let the public see the forum.
That said, I do hope all of you who are interested in the project enjoy what we will be revealing in the near future. All comments are always welcome here on PPM, and on Moddb respectfully of course. QUICK_EDIT
We would like to thank everyone for their interest so far as well as apologise for posting this thread in the Media Hut. Emerald Prophecy is something I’ve been working on in one form or another for some time now, but life and commitments to other projects have meant it’s been repeatedly put on the back burner.
As for Ares it’s opened up many exciting possibilities and was the very reason why the project became a Yuri's Revenge mod in the first place. _________________

So, at first Emerald Prophecy was going to be how we all know and love our respective RTS Games:
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to create content for the Yuri's Revenge engine, due to an extreme lack of freedom with it.
Emerald Prophecy will be re-imagined for a different engine, a more sophisticated, robust piece of software that has been an absolute pleasure working with.
The Unreal Development Kit has proven to be extremely simple to use, while being advanced enough to offer us an incredible amount of freedom.
Thanks for being patient with us while we've been trying to figure out where we have ultimately been wanting to go with this project, Erastus and I have been working extremely diligently over the course of the past year to ensure that we are capable of giving you all the best experience we possibly can. I welcome you to the Emerald Prophecy
@Orac: The detail maps are suffering from the bright lighting brought on by the sun. Had I angled the camera differently it'd hit the camera better and the detail maps would pop. The top is just as detailed as the rest of the structure is, so no worries there, the resolution of the texture is actuall 4096x4096, it looks low due to not properly set Load on Demand settings. if I were zoomed closer the details would be better shown QUICK_EDIT

Why does everyone find the UDK easy? When I used it, it was frakking unusable and hard to get it to do anything.
Anyways, good luck with the new engine QUICK_EDIT

What happens to the already done voxels?
Would you please make them public? _________________ If you are a member of the NSA and you are reading this, then you should know, that too much curiosity killed the cat!!!

i use to study to make level in UDK it's easy to do anything about graphic, for FPS game it work well but RTS game? i dont know if you need to code path finding and ai from zero, specialize when good RTS depend on both 2 = =". QUICK_EDIT
There certainly is quite a lot that needs to be done for our new endeavor, however in our current case the ends justify the means. We've discussed this for quite some time and we still believe it is the right thing to do with our project. Yes, it will take quite some time to see a release, but I can't imagine going back to any other engine, especially Yuri's Revenge.
As far as the programming goes, we're still looking into talent for that aspect of our project. At the moment however, we have that taken care of. Our major concern currently is making sure the game is comfortably optimized, and stays that way throughout further development of Emerald Prophecy.
As far as the voxels go, that isn't my jurisdiction. I don't know if ErastusMercy has other plans for his work or not. If he decides to release them in the future I'm more than certain he will make a formal announcement regarding their release to the public.
Thanks again for the support guys, including you, Joshy. Means a lot to us here on EP! QUICK_EDIT

excuse me, I don't fully understand yet, due to what do you have special rights to post your stuff where it doesn't belong?

no need to be an attention whore, your graphics and work speak for themselves.
here's a tip, mods made for pure crowd appeal in order to get "I love you" messages to stimulate your ego are 200% more likely to fall and never get released.
Looking promising and am looking forward to it _________________ Free Tibed!

OrangeNero:
This is the Media Hut. What we've been able to show to the public in this thread is strictly Media, and nothing else.
Fortunately for us, it also falls in the category of a Mod Announcement, which gives us the pleasure to choose which area of the forums we'd like to post it.
We had our Moddb page up and running before we posted the news article here on PPM. Our reason for posting on PPM was to make sure that whoever was, or would be interested in our project had a far easier place to check on it's progress. Our update news still falls in the category of Media, which means this technically is not the wrong place to post our project's news. QUICK_EDIT
