Defensive series 1 of 3.

This is a model and texture that I have done based on a concept from an unreleased C&C game.

The main purpose was to practice modelling and texturing (I do not intend on using the model), and I specifically decided to only use a single colour and material type.
This forces me to pay more attention to shading on the texture as well has paying more attention to the normal map. This is because I cannot use colours to define shapes (or groups of shapes), and also I cannot use different material types (concrete vs metal for example), to help define shapes and add contrast.

I have not added house colour areas, mainly because I do not intend on using this model, but some sort of house colour would be needed if this model was going to rigged and used in-game.

Also some kind of decal (probably white paint) would be used to help define the structure when viewed from distance (bearing in mind that in an RTS it will be viewed from a distance the vast majority of the time).

I had to greatly reduce the brightness of the texture and also did extensive colour correction, so this image is not accurate.

I saw Tiberium a generic fps with tiberium on it more than a C&C fps... but maybe it'd have been good for the Tiberium Universe because it wouldn't have ended up in that crap that's called CNC4.

I dunno, Tiberium looked pretty neat as does this turret. Though I think you're right about it losing a bit of sharpness when zoomed out.
