Hi all, I've got a humble request for you...

I've been trying to add a third party for a few days now. I've followed a few tutorials, but none was good enough. Every time, I run into trouble at some point. My best attempt was that I was able to build barracks and power plants. Everything else wasa grayed out... I tried to make the refinery buildable, but then I fucked something up again. Of course I could keep trying, but like I'm not really having fun anymore.

So here's my request: can someone provide me a rules.ini with the third party set up? Really just the basic basics; an mcv and a power plant. I've got some experience with adding units and buildings myself, that's not a problem. All the tutorials I've seen were like "now define this unit and that unit and your barracks blahblah" and I'm not at all interested in those kind of things, I can do them myself. One tutorial gave me deployable hunter seekers next to my construction yard and it didn't do anything but attacking the opponent which is just dumb. Laughing

It's really just about getting the MCV working and being able to build things (if I can build a powerplant, I can figure out the rest myself if the file is not such a mess as it was after I followed a tutorial). Name it whatever you want and give it whatever colour you want because it's no effort to change it.

I'd be eternally grateful. I understand that I sound like the stereotype lazy newbie now, for which I apologize. I am not lazy, just inexperienced. I am passionate about the game and have been for a long time, but I'm not too ambitious with modding. Not yet, maybe.

I don't know how to do it, however, I suggest to read a rules.ini from another mod that has made it, like TS Reform.

Confused

I don't have access to my rules files at the moment, but you said you already managed to build power plants and barracks', I can't see why
refinery would cause any more problems. Just make sure you create a new set of buildings for your faction instead of trying to double/triple
own GDI/Nod ones. Also make sure your units/buildings have house 'Special' as their second owner.
