Just want to ask if theres some knowledge one would share about making units automatically fire while being on the move. To some degree they seem to have this feature but the responding time takes long. Also in RA2 the infantry inside the Battlefortres can fire on the move, can this also be achieved in TS that a unit fires instantly at enemy units like BattleFortres when issued a move command?

I believe this is the
OpportunityFire= tag

which sadly is only available in RA2 Sad

Edit:Corrected Tag

@OrangeNero: Such logic doesn't exist in TS.
Only thing you can do is using q-move.

while attacking a target, keep q pressed while giving a new move command. The unit will then keep attacking the target but move at the same time. (works with turreted units only)

q-move is also a queue command. keep q pressed and then give the unit one move command after the other. The unit will then move automatically along the chosen cells one after the other (something like a dummy instant waypoint logic)

I actually prefer Q-Move over RA2's OpportunityFire. While OpportunityFire just fires at the first unit coming too close, with Q-Move you can select the target yourself while still keeping your units in move, avoiding enemy fire. In other words, Q-Move gives you more room for micromanaging than OpportunityFire.

I've never known of this q-move command. I don't even see it listed in the keyboard settings. Very informative of Westwood... I also only recently realised you can make units follow other units. Guess I just never had use for it, but it could certainly be useful for guarding harvesters.

ctrl - force attack
alt - force move
ctrl+alt - guard move (move to target but automatically fight back when attacked) or when done on a unit, it will follow and protect that unit.

I always use G when a group of enemies are nearby, or in the middle of the enemy base. I can then focus on other units like artilleries #Tongue
