Don't look for TumSun to come back
Felix hasn't seen a hard day of work in his life, there's no way he'll do any work on the site, moving downloads or whatever the crap else...
He mis-quoted me, by the way, or took that quote out of context, as I posted just before tumsun went down on the staff forum, part of it was that I was getting too busy, but when I realised that me getting the FTP password back meant running the site a way that I don't want to run it, that was it. If I'm going to be webmaster of ANY site, it's going to be on my terms.
Just because I feel like insulting him, here's the letter I just sent to Felix:
"I retract any form of appology I previously made.
YOU, sir, are a jackass. You can take TumSun and shove it. Quote that.
~FM"
Btw, Banshee, KICK-ASS render! Awesome work! _________________ Over and out,

Well FM apparenty the guy is busy and has a business going, he even has an email assistant.... But he should've contacted us when he found out the high bill was a problem.
And now stop calling people J*ck*sses cuz it makes you look like somebody that cannot control himself. QUICK_EDIT
TerroR, that's not a nice thing to say. Who were you talking to, me, DvD, or Felix?
DvD, you can defend him all you want, but the fact of the matter is, TumSun isn't coming back. Now you can either be mad, or side with Felix. I chose to be mad. I think we had a nice thing going, and Felix just stepped in and ruined it.
Sure, he pays for the site. But he just lets it sit there and die, he won't let anyone save it, because it would cost him more money. I wish he'd just stop paying for the site or let it actually be reincarnated for once. But hey, it's not my business anymore. _________________ Over and out,

If Felix was wise enough to pay a dedicated server for TiberiumSun, you would be able to be a webbie in your terms and Felix would always pay for $109 monthly (3 digits). Actually, you guys would be able to expand much more. Look at EV1 Servers:
Intel Celeron 1.7 Intel Celeron 1.7 512MB 60GB 700GB RedHat Linux $1 $109 3 Order Now!
For your info, neither RADEN uses 700GB of bandwidth. They use 300, I think. So, you guys would be able to expand TiberiumSun.com and even host a whole community... Now... insulting each other in that way, it wont take you two anywhere... QUICK_EDIT
FM, i'm also mad at Felix but not as mad as you are apparently.
Obviously he still cares a bit about the site as he still pays for it.
I'm not mad at you, if you thought i was, no i'm just a pit pissed because you're saying everywhere he is a J*ck*ss. That's all QUICK_EDIT
All the links still work though, not through the main page, but through google =/ I tried all of em, the home don't work, and I think one other won't load
Wow, talk to Felix? You think that'd really work? Why didn't I think of that... Oh wait, I did. IT DOESN'T WORK. There is no getting through to Felix. As for him paying for the site, he's a moron to do that, because he won't ever let it be anything more than a dead old page. I'm not trying to bring the site back by insulting them, I already know that's impossible. I'm trying to vent by insulting him. Quite frankly, he deserves it. Did you know that every webmaster that has EVER worked at TumSun has left because of him? Well, aside from SMIFF and DvD now, but they might as well leave, what are they going to do, moderate the forums that no one can get to?
You probably think I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but Froggy and I have been trying to deal with Felix for a year or two now, there IS NO dealing with him.
I ressurrected the site, I saved it, I made it so popular that, even though he couldn't pay for it, it was bringing more and more people back to TS, and what does he do? He rips it out from under me. I still haven't gotten a single letter from Felix, despite the tons that I've written him (well, not since a year ago when I first started working for TumSun)... Froggy even had to forward me the message asking for the "jackass" bit to be taken off the front page. He didn't care to so much as inform me why I couldn't get to the FTP, and God forbid a "nice job, FM."
I'm not being selfish, really. I just don't want to work on a site where I have to try to make it popular without going over the bandwidth limit. That's the uttermost stupid thing to try to do with a website. Make it popular, but not too popular. Banshee, as for your idea, YOU try to convince Felix of that. If you're lucky enough to even get a response, I can bet you I already know what it'll say.

Banshee, you can have any content you can get your hands on from TumSun, including the images collection. _________________ Over and out,

Hmm.... Google, here we go (thnx FM)
Note: Of course this isnt the best solution, but better than nothing in case you know what I mean... TumSun being active is much better because:
- it's a very respected site
- it's old and became a reference to Tiberian Sun
- it's linked by pratically all TS sites
- it's TS top references in all search engines
- tiberiumsun (name very close to tiberiansun)
- it's a .com unlike PPM
- it has a different way to cover TS than PPM which is also interesting.
- bla bla bla etc etc QUICK_EDIT
I already stated at Tumsun that I would take the voxels, and shps, and prolly maps too, and post them on SW but mods if I was allowed I may not take many mods since there are to many to work with. _________________
All hail me
QUICK_EDIT
PPM cannot host all the stuff from TumSun... the total filesize would be in the hundreds of gigabytes....
you mean hundreds of megabytes, no website uses hundreds of GB's.(storage space).
Note: when i say "no website" i am excluding sites like microsoft.com for one reason, tumsun ain't a large corperation. _________________ Free Map Editor - Game Requirements - Stucuk.Net QUICK_EDIT

We can host TumSun stuff, but I need to get authorization from the ones who created the resources (in case of shp and voxels) to post here. Same for the fan renders... QUICK_EDIT

Well I remember FM telling me that: if hypothetically, either of our sites went down, we would have a backup of each other's download which we could upload in case, to keep TS going. So FM, can I put up the downloads that are from TumSun? So far I want to concentrate on maps, vxls and shps, then everything else comes next. _________________

Note: anything on any storage medium that can be accessed by the public, that doesn't say you can't distribute it(on the website or in a readme etc) can be redistributed without the worry of authors doing shit.
Basicaly if you don't want ppl distributing files include that in a readme which accompanys the file. Turnign around and saying "err..... i only wanted it on bla.com, or it wasn't ment for public release" is stupidity if you never took steps to secure the file or place a bit of text saying "do not distribute".
Tho having said that banshee is one of them ppl who is nice, and thus would ask in any case. _________________ Free Map Editor - Game Requirements - Stucuk.Net QUICK_EDIT
you are too much pessimist FM, stop insult people or you will have nothing from them.
you hate vlad but you begin to act like him, specialy insult people for nothing.
You can't insult a person who paid for you, you should be already happy that he didn't delete all the content, and you should really give him some excuses
but do what you want, you are mature, and if you want to see tsum not back again continue to insult him
remember that a webmaster will never insult the people that help him or are in his forum or in the community QUICK_EDIT

Unless He/She feels they have been backstabed, which looks like the case here.
yes, but from what I heard from FM himself, he didn't actually get permission to restart the site _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. Bow down and repent to your master. And go bake me some cookies!
Venom FM didnt need permission to restart the site
Felix is running the site specifically for us the community and as Felix says himself he runs it for us and the joy he gets from it is visiting it every other day and checking its progression.
Felix isnt our boss or manager, but its his site which im sure hes proud of _________________ QUICK_EDIT

I think that one basic thing that FM could have received is a "thanks" if Felix is so proud of TumSun... and Felix seems to be moving the files to another server in the moment... QUICK_EDIT
yep sadly the forum is down, but Felix is doing his best guys
Heres the last email he sent me: -
Quote:
Ah… forgot:
Thanks for your mail. FMs totally unrational comments brought me very close to simply stop paying & shutting down tiberiumsun and your email saved me from doing that.
Of course I highly appreciate all the work you guys to for YOUR and THE COMMUNITY’s site . Although unfortunately I don’t have the time to check out every new content that is one the page, I get a lot of feedback from visitors saying thanks for all the stuff. It’s really nice to see that the site is still alive after six (!!) years online!
"I get a lot of feedback from visitors saying thanks for all the stuff." funny how they thank Felix for all the work I did...
Felix might bring the site back, he just might. But I highly doubt it. I'm pretty sure that the stupid temporary downtime page will become the permanent index page. _________________ Over and out,

And he did sent the passwords... both for TumSun and the new server. Wel'll wait with moving to the new server until SMIFF here has a new DSL modem.. (my modem's kinda slow) QUICK_EDIT
