Tore told me the TS No-CD doesn't work for some people, possibly when you have no CD drive in your PC. I made a quick patch that should fix that but he wasn't able to check in a VM because even when disabling CD drives in the VM the no-CD exe works.

Was wondering if anyone got this issue so I can give them my possible fix to see if it works.

Normally, we don't condone using a No-CD patch as it's technically against the EULA... however, since the game is a freeware download, I think it's okay.

DOWNLOAD

Uninstall your current version of Tiberian Sun, then install this (I don't know if you have to patch it or not). EA released TS as a freeware download a while back. You don't need a CD for it to run.

Although I've always owned the original disks, I've always used the No-CD crack while keeping the disks safely in their cases after I've blown up 2 of my TS disks in my 52x CD-Rom drive (I bought new ones after that) #Tongue

I gotta say I've never had any issues with the No-CD crack (and I've used 2 different ones), although I've never used it on a PC with no CD drive.
One thing some people don't seem to realize however, is that when you apply the No-CD crack, you also need to copy certain files the game needs from the disks to the game directory (the sound and video mix files can alternatively also be replaced with 0 KB files to save disk space). So if any of the necessary files aren't found when you try to start the game, it indeed won't work.

The No-CD patches the GetCDClass constructor so when the game checks if drive C:/ to Z:/ is a cd-rom drive, it checks if they;re a hard-drive instead. There's seems to be a separate (and somehow later) check for the drive type of A:/ and B:/, this check isn't patched by the no-C
.
Not sure if this will ztype up anything but try changing the drive letter C:/ to A:/ and make sure Windows has no other drives displayed in the My Computer screen. See if Tiberian Sun gives an error during startup then.

Why do you not just use Nyerguds NoCD patch, it works fine. Its a remake of the one released back in 2000 or so, but hes works with any size executable (modded etc).

I'm already using Nyerguds' no CD patch which I applied on HyperPatch. However I think Iran might be thinking of the no CD game.exe from the freeware TS which seems to have issues, but that's irrelevant now as the new TS installer I'm making isn't using the freeware release of TS as a base. Smile
