Country Sides Name

So, I've started modding Red Alert 2. Laughing

, I've encountered a problem with renaming the countries. For such an example when I want to rename Russia to Soviet Union, I have to erase the UI Name to UI Name:Soviet Union. However when I play the game, it shows up as Missing Name. Was wondering how can I fix it. I've tried replacing the side name to SovietUnion, however it doesn't seems to work.

edit the string entry of Name:Russians in the ra2/ra2md .csf

Inside its refered to as Russians, Just change it to Soviet Union.

Extract ra2.csf or ra2md.csf with XCC Mixer

Open the File with STREdit

This is assuming your not renaming the stuff in UIName to other crazy stuff...

Inside find the following:

Name:Russia - This is the text displayed on the Country List

STT:PlayerSideRussia - This shows what info you'll see on the bottom of the Skirmish Screen when selecting that Side.

LoadBrief:Russia - This is the information you see when you start a match in skrimish.

Once done. Save the File and either put this in a Custom Mix File or as is in the RA2 Directory.

Thanks! I tried to search around for STR Edit for RA2, but it appear that PPM doesn't have it in the CnC Tools. I tried other website that have STR Edit download for CnC however they have 404 errors.

Or you can use Ares with the "NOSTR:" tag before the name (Instead of "Name:") and write it directly to the .ini

But then you cannot have very long strings.
("Soviet Union" would be just fine, though)
