Just out of curious. Is it possible to make the tank itself recoil (moving back slightly then move forward to normal after firing a round of projectile)?

not with a .vxl unit "you can make the barrel recoil though". But is doable with a .shp unit

You can also use a hva anim on the turret/barrel. It will play in a loop while the unit is attacking tho so you'd need to add a sufficient amount of blank frames at the end to take the ROF into account.
