What does heuristic means?

Ok so i open ai personalities.xml and i noticed the heuristic word being used ALOT.

What does this mean?(im sure if i find out what it means it will be a big help)

And someone explain this to me?

As one who never modded SAGE, but finished an intelligent systems course... I think heuristic data is a tactical data about the enemy units and their positions, to find a weakness for them.

Just a guess. But this could be also deduced from that Wiki page I linked you to. Stop being lazy.

As far as I recall (I may be wrong anyway), a heuristic is an specific algorithm. It isn't very accurate, yet a lot faster then the algorithm itself, but mistakes may occur in specific situations...
