I am looking to begin a new mod project but before I do anything or say anything I need to see if a few things are possible with the TS engine.

1. Can you make TS like warcraft with fog of war only and no shroud WITHOUT using a map reveal trigger and having the fog grow in.....

2. Can you have it so units do not fire upon targets they cannot see within shroud or fog of war?

3. I overheard fog of war sometimes crashes the game, anyone know the exact cause of this? (cause i've never experienced it)

3. Its a good question... noone knows the reason... Ionstorms are also a problem that produce IE in many cases, i had also post a video where you can see, an IS-IE in cchypers thread <.<

I also saw someone trying to change shroud to the fog of war, is that possible? like changing opacity?

1. Try modifying shroud.shp in tibsun.mix-conquer.mix and see what happens

2. no

3. It's unknown. Else there would be fixes and workarounds to enable FoW.
It also doesn't only crashes sometimes, but always. Just play a game (best online) a watch how it crashes after 1-5 min.

I think it might be related to the high resolutions people play with nowadays. IIRC the crashes never happened back when I still played with a res of 800x600 (and maybe even also 1024x768).

Maybe we can Simulate FoW with Triggers... shroud map every 10 seconds =/ or is that going to the Same Result (Crash) ?

the only question what in my head is.... will the Location also shrouded when there a own Units =/

For that you can just change ShroudGrow= to yes under [AudioVisual].

ShroudGrow enabled has iirc the same issues as FoW. But i'm not sure.
